KatieTyrell's Journal, 28 February 2013

I have been looking through the group boards and seeing so many postings that remind me of my own struggles. In an effort to get support (and give support), I went to the poster's profiles and saw that many of them hadn't weighed in or entered any food/exercise in several years (they looked like they were still at their starting weight).

It made me wonder, "did they give up on dieting/exercising" or "did they just give up tracking on FS"? Hopefully it is the latter, because so many of these people were extremely motivated when they posted their reasons for joining FS.

Anyway, MY GOAL IS TO BE MY OWN SUCCESS STORY! I intend to record my food everyday and track my weight consistently until I reach my goal weight. There will be no giving up in this corner!! :)

I wonder the same thing... I hope that maybe they found another way that worked better for them & didn't give up! It can be so frustrating trying to lose weight with PCOS, but I'm here for the long haul too. I don't record all my food on here, but I do record weigh-ins almost every day. I look forward to seeing us both succeed!! :)

I wonder the same thing Katie-maybe people mean to get back to it but get busy, or they start to post everything and then begin to think others will judge them on what they're eating, or any number of other reasons. I hope they find a way that works for them-this, the posting daily and at each meal, is what works for me. Clearly I need a lot of hand holding! LOL! But hey, it's working, when other things just haven't, so I'm with you-no giving up, tracking things consistently until I get where I need to be. I'm a grandma, so I'm pretty well past caring what others find attractive or not about my appearance, thankfully. Not that I don't want to look nice, but now I want it for ME! I hope that you can find effective treatment for your PCOS, it seems a very cruel illness and I wouldn't wish it on anyone!

well I thought I divided up that paragraph-the first was meant for Katie and the next was for turningthirty!

lol :) I'm finding that eating healthy (low card & low sugar) & losing weight is the best treatment I've found so far!

You will find a LOT of profiles like that around here. I think it's a natural thing. We decide to FINALLY lose all that weight, but in reality it's a half hearted attempt, and we end up not doing it. Eventually, we give up and abandon ship. I did this twice before I actually got going, and reached the finishing line. In regards to tracking: I live in Denmark, and I teach a weight loss class. I would LOVE to teach them to use FatSecret, but so many of the foods and products that are available here are simply not in the system. So I have found a Danish site that is essentially the same thing (www.madlog.dk), and I teach people using this. Obviously, I can't teach it and recommend it left and right without using it myself, so that is where you'll find all my food logs. :) ...and thanks for adding me as a buddy! :)
