I’m trying to see God’s humor in this but I don’t. Nothing about this is funny. This is our life and we take it day by day. I’m just upset and angry that my daughter has to go through this the rest of her life. Why can’t I be the one with the disease?? I would gladly take it from her if I could. I just can’t take this anymore. I shouldn’t be the one so upset, it should be my daughter the one dealing with it. But I can’t help but be upset. I try to stay positive but then things like this happen.

That is so rough. There is nothing like worrying about your kid and wanting everything to be good for them and it being impossible to "fix" it all. I'm sorry... I really am.

I had a long text but got deleted. Maybe you have or haven't but I have heard there have been positive effects on diabetes with time restricted eating or fasting and my be worth looking into for your one daughter. You're doing so much and are strong to be able to carry on and have a lot of love it seems.

She has needles but forgot her insulin, the pod she wears has enough insulin for 3 days. We all get too comfortable depending on that because it rarely malfunctions. She knows how to change her pump and can give herself shots. Just wasn’t prepared. She does occasionally fast and eat low carb to reset her body but she is still a kid and that can be very difficult. Especially when around other children who aren’t diet conscious. Now she is 12 and teenage years are approaching and the added hormones make blood sugars even more inconsistent. The endocrinologist told us to be prepared because it doesn’t get easier.

Amber, I have a friend who has been Type 1 diabetic for over 55 years with no serious health problems. Hopefully your daughter will do as well, or better.

So sorry to hear! Please don’t reflect your feelings that the disease is ruining your daughter’s life, or that her sister’s life is better, upon your daughter. I’m sure that your despair is in the moment.
I hope that you don’t take that the wrong way, but she can live a what a normal life is for someone with type 1.
If her Dr doesn’t offer a continual back up for the pump, or support in helping her live the best life she can live, see another Dr.
It’s very hard on all of you, and I can only imagine your struggle as a mommy dealing with this.
Seek out as much help and support as you can for you, your daughter and your family.
