Has anyone else felt dizzy during Atkins induction? I feel a bit foggy and dizzy again which I haven't since week 1 of induction (been doing it for almost 4 weeks now)... I guess it means it's working because I am losing weight again, but it doesn't make me feel great! I guess I just want to know if anyone else has experienced this?

It looks like your food intake is perfect. Is it possible you aren't drinking enough water?

Yep... but I attributed it to detoxing from sugar addiction. Sipping on some salty chicken broth helped me . I did induction for 2 1/2 months. I am still keeping my carbs low....but I have started adding nuts and a tiny bit of berries as I have hit a goal of being under 300.

Hi, I tried this diet a while back and if you read the original book by Dr. Adkins he describes "ascension fatigue". During the first week or two you may become dizzy or lightheaded when you get up or go up stairs. I almost passed out twice and my calorie intake was spot on. Needless to say I stopped Adkins and switched to South Beach, but good luck on whichever diet suits you! :0)

I had a dizzy spell a week ago in the supermarket and I put it down to not a) drinking enough water and b) eating enough calories (I find it quite hard to get the calories in!!) Hope you are ok and great to hear that you are losing. I haven't been on the scales for a while as I have had too much on my mind to even think about weight - but I have been trying to be very good so hopefully I will see a loss on Tuesday

Hello Im not an expert but I believe it to be from the withdraw effects. When I first did Atkins yrs ago I had to wd off Dr Pepper I almost jumped off my second story balcony. The dizzy spells were killing me. I was so addicted to carbs. Anyways drinking a little extra water helped me but it lasted 7 days. I was extremely addicted tho. Good luck and when you feel dizzy just take a moment and breathe deeply and long.:) Make sure youre NOT starving yourself from counting those carbs that could probably cause that too. ♥ I ended up losing 35 lbs in 12 weeks for my wedding. ;)

Thank you for all your comments, looks like I am not alone in this dizziness phase! I have been drinking enough water, at least 1.5 litres a day (far more than ever before)... plus 2 coffees and whatever other drinks (trying to limit diet drinks though due to possible cause of migraines). Withdrawal from carbs could definitely be a cause, particularly from fast food! I still have the occasional fast food meal, just modified to fit in with my 20g carb count. Have just tried baking a Chocolate cheesecake and can't wait to try it! 3g carbs per serve, it will be my very special treat. That's what I love about this diet, how much variety you can have if you just modify your usual recipes! My dizziness hasn't been from exertion, just at night when I'm about to go to sleep or when I just wake up mainly, but generally all day it's been happening. Good luck everyone, thanks again for the feedback! (and good luck with your weigh in Tues Kaz, go team YELLOW!)

Are you taking any supplements? The broth idea might be good as sometimes you can wash away some of your electrolytes which can also cause dizziness. What recipe did you use for the cheesecake?

http://www.fatsecret.com/recipes/cheesecake/Default.aspx - this was the cheesecake recipe I used and just added a little cocoa to make it chocolate (planned on using Atkins Choc but husband decided to eat it!). I am taking a multivitamin, started that just in case ths diet was lacking in anything and ironically, to make sure I didn't feel ill or dizzy! Maybe I should try a few days without it? Hadn't even thought about that... cheers juanab!

I think I would keep up with the vitamin and thanks for the recipe info.
