I like weights but I would not encourage you to go that route if you hate it. Do something you like that will produce the desired results.

There is also 'resistance bands' you can use. I used them with P90X videos.

Good long walks were you increase pace up and down over the walk and over each time are great. Also, try body resistance, ie pushups against a wall, or rolling medicine ball up and down the wall as you go into squat, or you can also try planking to build core strength. These will all give some more endurance and strength without going over board.

I don't mind weight lifting, once you get rolling it is enjoyable. It is getting started and it getting easier that is a pain. I hated each one of my new exercise machines until I could do them well. I started at lower resistance to help. no sense doing something to hard to do correctly. too much weight and not enough form is not good. But if you still hate it that much do some kind of resistance work. When I get back to the gym I am hoping to get restarted and learn more.

You are doing great - just keep doing what you like and you will keep on doing great - weights are good but if you hate them you would be better off doing what you can stick with
