I saw your post and was intrigued. My DD has been so sick for months and for about three weeks now we have been having her eat gluten free and she feels so much better. I have found myself when I did atkins before that i felt better and am thinking that is me also. I feel better without gluten. So my question I guess are you doing this on your own or have you been diagnosed with gluten allergy or celiac?

Thanks bclenny. Carla70 I was dianosed but it took many years of being sick. Most people just stop eating gluten totally and then find they feel so much better and then when they get gluten by mistake feel really sick again. There are a couple of gluten free groups on fatsecret - check my groups to find them. Also check out celiac.com for forums.

I also have the same symptoms. When I eat white flour, or any of he things that aren't allowed on Atkins (bad carbs), I bloat up, I have excessive flatulence (sorry, gross, but true), no energy, headaches, aches and pains, and it also causes my Lupus to flare horribly. So I have to wonder if lots of people who do Atkins and feel so much better, actually have gluten inolerance or other hidden health problems or allegries, and just don't know it.

Yes those are definately some gluten intolerance symptoms. There is also a possible connection between gluten and lupus. My personal symptoms include my body fighting to hang onto every pound as a reaction to not digesting nutrients properly, the body thinking it is starving when it is not.
