Vampirekitchen's Journal, 24 October 2020

I’m sitting here in my car parked in my driveway not wanting to go inside my own house. This year just keeps getting weirder and weirder. My life now is completely different than it was nine months ago- some of it good, some of it bad but there’s a whole lot of “strange” mixed in there too. I know it’s that way for a lot of people, but I think I’ve just about exhausted my brain positivity stores and am falling into a numb phase. At some point, when will I feel like me again and be able to deal with all these changes and restriction?

I'm sorry for your stress. Change is hard. Sometimes even good change. Please take care of yourself. Might be a good time to find someone to talk to. There are counciling resources online if you're not comfortable going in person right now.

It has truly been one of the most bizarre and difficult years for most of us. I think it's good to focus on things you can control and let go of the rest. Take some little "me" time breaks. You are important and if you don't take care of yourself you won't be able to help anyone else. Don't let people take you down with their ship. Create places, time, moments of peace like going for a walk, taking a bath, listening to music with headphones. Anything that helps calm you other than food. Its hard to relax when stressed but it's an important exercise to engage in for both physical and mental health. Hang in there!

Vampire kitchen—just keep moving forward. We have a long way to go before this is over, as long as a year-18 months. Just do the best you can. Create a new normal. Mental health is a becoming as much an issue as physical health.. when I look around there is one glaring, positive thing that I see and that is that families are spending time outside TOGETHER doing physical things like walking, hiking, playing ball, picnicking, volleyball and riding bikes. Things we did not see as much before. This will not be the last pandemic we experience— Pandora’s box has been opened.

These are times we've never experienced before, and yes, it gets old very quickly. May I just add my 2 cents? The only way I have been able to survive and find a comfort is through Jesus Christ. We can't do it by ourselves.

It is plain friggin' hard. Everyone is under so much stress because when this started we all said, "I can do this." Of course, we thought we'd do it and life as we know it would resume. I hope you can find some peace.

Kenna I agree with you, this won’t be the last. We are going to keep our masks even when this nightmare is hopefully under control. Vampire, All we can do is try to hold our heads up and take time for ourselves. You will be fine I am hoping this is just a hiccup for you and things will start to look up. Hang in there! You are not alone.
