I am so ANGRY at my body right now. Why!? WHY? Is my left ankle giving out on me? Apparently, I sprained it again. I'm back in my ankle brace and taking it easy, but this is only prolonging my weight loss journey.
I am stretching, I am icing, I have low impact days... Why do I keep on reinjuring my ankle!? I'm 25 years old, I don't think this is normal. Or is it? I don't know.
I am so mad! Chair cardio doesn't get my heart going like actually running. I love running and I am so frustrated that I can't do it now.

I sprained my ankle exactly a month ago today... I'm still determined to lose weight. I'm still eating healthy and I'm still going to find different ways to lose weight without using my legs, but I am not happy about it.

Ankles sprains take a long time to heal normally longer than a broken bone. It may take strength exercises to get it back to normal.

Running is very hard on ankle and knee joints. If you have access to a gym try an elliptical as it has no impact.

Have you ever tried race-walking? Looks really weird, and is not as easy as it looks. Really needs special training to do it correctly but burns more calories than running & without the impact on the joints. It is good to alternate, so this with bicycling are great alternatives. Above all, respect what your body is telling you!

Do you have access to a pool? Try that !!

Perhaps it is time to consider asking your primary care doc for a referral to a physical therapist. THe PT could help with figuring out how not to damage the already hurting ankle. In the meantime, take it easy and listen to your body; maybe this is a message to change your routine.

Thank you for all the kind and mindful responses. It really helps me to find other ideas and exercises to try. I personally do not own a pool, but our clubhouse is just a few minutes away where I could swim. I just like being alone, I can't handle distractions. I like being in the zone haha. I have a confession though, in early February I had a really bad fall. During that time, I was at my heaviest. I was in so much pain, I had to go to urgent care. The urgent care doctor said I sprained my right ankle, knee and my lower back. After 4 weeks of "R.I.C.E" they recommended light physical therapy. Well COVID-19 happened and I never went. I could go now- no, I should go now, but I'm embarrassed. Who goes to physical therapy because of a bad fall at 25 years old? I'll suck it up. I'm only furthering the damage to my body. Now my left ankle is taking a beating. I love to run. I love the feeling I get after a workout. I was learning how to pace myself. I'm just sad I can't do that right now. I may not ever if I keep on ignoring my body. Thanks for listening guys.

Wanna know how i know a lot about PT? I’ve been injuring myself for decades and definitely not on purpose. It happens when you move a lot especially when you’re easily distracted by shiny things, noises, things that move, pretty things, taking pictures, random thoughts...🤪. In other words, it happens to the best of us.

Haha thank you katsolo ❤️ That does make me feel better. I actually fell because of the stupid sandals I was wearing. They had no traction and I fell in the parking lot. I somehow skid my knee against the pavement. I remember the doctor had to take some rocks and glass out of me knee. I also renewed my tetanus shot that day 🤣😭🤣

And then there was the time i was walking in the dog park with a friend, stepped in a gopher hole, twisted that ankle, tried to land, put my arm in poo and then sprained my wrist trying to bounce back up in absolute horror while my friend was in tears laughing. True story.

I have weak ankles, and have had more sprains than I could count, so I feel your pain. It's a bummer, but maybe you can concentrate on the other exercises you can do while your ankle heals. Also, you're only human, and you have a human body that can be fragile at times. Cut yourself, and your body some slack. Give yourself some credit too, for what you've been able to accomplish. You've come a long way! 👏

Katsolo, Oh noooo 🤣 I'm sorry, but that does sound funny. That's something I would do! I guess I should lighten up, eh? ☺️🥰

Thank you Lonnie, you're absolutely right! I appreciate your mindful comment. I am only human and I should take it easy. After all, I still have full mobility in my upper body ✨🙌🏽
