This is my second attempt at adopting a healthy lifestyle that includes eating healthfully and exercising. I want to instill this in my husband (type II diabetic) and our two children.

This isn't an excuse, but I've watched the women in my family (both sides) yo-yo diet for years and all of the women in my family have problems with weight. I want to nip that in the bud now.

I am a RN, but currently am staying at home with our kids since recently moving here. We live in a tiny town in ND. I miss being able to go to the gym, but have made myself fall in love with my dvd's and elliptical. I try to switch things up to keep it fresh.

My goal weight is 145 lb. I don't really have a deadline, as I'm not trying to lose in any extreme manner. We are going home to visit in June, which is also my birthday, so it would be nice to have a noticable weight loss by then.

Exercising before breakfast--interesting study
Yes, I'm hypothyroid and I also take omeprazole for reflux. Relz, like you, I don't want even less sleep then I already get so I can get up at the crack of dawn to do my thing! Smile I'll have to look for this other article I read that was similar to the one you posted. It seems like "they" are constantly changing what is the best way to exercise, eat, when to eat, etc. It gets overwhelming. So, through trial and error, I have found out what works best for me.

Exercising before breakfast--interesting study
I always exercise on an empty stomach first thing in the morning. It hasn't affected my performance at all. I do that mainly because I have meds I have to take in the am on an empty stomach, then wait at least one hour after taking them to eat anything. If I ate after that, I would have to wait at least another hour before exercising. Next thing you know, it's 10 or 11 am and that's too late for me.

Talk about ouch
Wow! Something that surpassed the ghost pepper! That is hot! Yes, I too will stick with habaneros and serranos for spicy.

Looking for a Good Novel - any suggestions?
For crime/forensic mystery, Patricia Cornwell and Kathy Reichs are great, and they have a lot of books. I am reading the Blackdagger Brotherhood series for the second time right now. They are on the explicit (romance wise) side if that kind of thing offends, but they are excellent books! Dean Koontz is great also. Carl Hiassen is funny, funny. If you like books based on early people, Sue Harrison has a good trilogy. I've wanted to read that series also, the one with The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Happy reading!

Anyone else terrified of Thanksgiving
I agree that having one day "off", enjoying the food, family, and not counting calories is a great idea. K8's right, one day doesn't mess everything that you've worked for up, it's treating the entire season as a holiday. And I, for one, will NOT be weighing myself until my regular day, Monday and I won't beat myself up if I gained a tad. Enjoy!
