Nothing like tight pants to put the fear of god in you
I put on a pair of pants that I hadn't worn in awhile that was previously too loose and could barely get the button closed.
If you're just starting, it might be prudent to do measurements of your waist, hips, arms, chest, and thighs with a tape measure just to have another metric to go by. Weight loss can be a deceptive thing (since sometimes it's just water), but nothing feels better than pants that don't fit proper.

Welcome. I tend to use this forum more for tracking nutrition than anything else, but at the end of the day, lose weight for yourself, not for your Dad.
Don't just stick with salads, you'll get bored quickly and make it easier to derail. Mix it up with other allowed foods. Take inspirations of food that you like and make something similar to it.

Weak and Shaky
I just started about a week ago; within the first two nights I felt a little jittery with a bit of a headache, like I had too much coffee - i made sure to eat dinner and drink a lot of water while feeling like that. Now after the first week that seems to have passed.
