Just turned 61 and a new "pre diabetic" per my doctor at the VA clinic in Anaheim.
This diagnosis finally motivated me to try to get off sugar and get on the exercise bike. On 4/15/2015 I weighed 233, but figure clothes, shoes, keys etc were included so I was really about 230. Now as of 9/30/2015 I weigh 180 pounds.

My girlfriend now, and a few others as well, say that I am getting too thin so it may be the time to go to Plan B and get involved in resistance training perhaps.

Being a shuttle bus driver, I have a sedentary job so this life change is coming at a good time- I do not have a strong desire to try to inject insulin into myself in my "golden years."

I do believe though that if I can do this anybody can, unless there are medical or physical disability reasons perhaps. So I have begun writing an ebook detailing what I learned, a how to guide so to speak to losing weight and inches and to help with the problemof insulin resistance.

Thanks for all the help and good wishes.

An unexpected error has occurred
Anyone else getting this message when you post a new weigh in or a journal entry?

Lately this happens every time I post.

Sent in the feedback form several days ago and never heard back
so I am trying here.

My thought is the computer has flagged me for out of the ordinary weight loss/gains.
"you are losing weight at a rapid rate xlbs week" or the other for gains.

Problem for the all knowing computer is that I document mine with a photo of the scale with me standing on it, 99% of the time.

So I really would like tech help here. Please look at my journal and remove my journal from Purgatory please. My journal is real. My weight figures are real. I am real and need some help here.

Thank you tech department in advance for the help!

Weird what you crave
" I know for a fact that they didn't even prescribe you anything"

Congratulations on your choice of major and best wishes in the future.

Oatmeal sure spiked my blood sugar!
Regarding the McD's fruit and maple oatmeal that I wrote about in my journal this morning, it has a good taste but as I found out way too much sugar, but I think I could almost duplicate it by using the steel cut oats as a base which btw do not spike me near as much as the traditional rolled oats. I wish McD's used them but I am sure they went the cheaper way, of course!

Oatmeal sure spiked my blood sugar!
Hi Carmen. Yes I was diagnosed pre diabetic on 4/15/15. On that day I weighed 233 at the doc's office. I have deducted 3 pounds from that total for clothes keys in pocket shoes etc that day.

I was wallowing gladly in sugar at that time.

After the 'talk" from the doctor, I walked out determined that insulin shots and other bad stuff would not be part of my future and to date have lost 40 pounds.... But the main thing is that I have cut my sugar consumption in all of its' many forms by about 97%.

I use the Relion Confirm Micro brand sold in Walmart for around $17, I pay for it because the VA does not pay for testing supplies unless you take insulin. I gladly shoulder the expense.

There are documented differences between readings using different meters online, but I can state without any doubts that this meter that I use is right in the ballpark and highly recommend it.

Love the ideas. My situation is that I like a hot breakfast cereal from time to time and like oatmeal which I can eat plain and enjoy. I know it is an acquired taste. The SC Oats I enjoyed and didn't spike as much but no more making them with milk, that did spike higher, but I will maybe add a little afterward for taste. Wish I could get some real "yellow" grits out here in California, love the taste of those with butter and runny fried eggs mashed in.

Now I am getting hungry.
