new to FS and looking for a buddy
Hi, I just turned 41 too!
I also have a long term goal of 130.
Today I weigh about 178.
AND Im also aiming for about 5lbs a month!
So I would love to be a buddy.
Ive been trying (not concistantly) for over 5yrs. to lose and just keep gaining. Now that my kids are old enough to occupy themselves for a while I have time to work out and plan/prepare meals etc. ME TIME. Im not used to it and it's taking a lot of effort to acutally get up and do what I NEED to do consistantly but Im doing it. Besides this past weeks gain (water, being a woman, who knows) Ive been doing well.

the fat me vs. the thin me
Skinny me has a few days worth of perfectly healthy foods prepared in the fridge for when fat me comes along hungry.

Fat me looks & says "ugh, nothing good to satisfy me" 'cause all she wants is a quick carb rush, cookies, buns......

Skinny me takes out the big healthy meal and is so satisfied & happy & says "wow, glad I didn't listen to fat me"

Today is a new beginning... got a question for You!
Some things that worked for me (I quite 5yrs ago & not one cheat)
1.Do a fall cleaning, ceilings, walls, closets, cabinets, scrub & scrub.
2.Get a book from the library or splurge on magazines.
3.DO NOT LET YOURSELF INTO YOUR OWN HEAD. What I mean is, don't count the days eg. "It's been 6 days, 2 hrs & 4 minutes"
4.Don't bring it up, don't tell everyone because they'll constantly ask "how's "IT" going?"
5.Treat it as a sin, ask for forgiveness & change, it's gone, your clean, move on.
6.DO NOT EVER take just one puff thinking (convincing yourself) it'll just be the one puff. NEVER EVER take any or deliberatly breath it in!
I know this sounds easier said than done BUT to never start again you must to treat yourself like it's gone, not waiting around the corner for you to use as a crutch or excuse. Blessings to you I know you can keep it up!

Keep going no matter what!
Im interested in "low carb" but how low do you need to go. 20g is kinda low for me. Is 100 enough for someone like me to lose? Im 5'5"/174lbs.

Protein/Carbs/Fat--what's a healthy breakdown?
I totally agree with 40/30/30. You could even up the protein and lower carbs a tiny bit if you needed too. But you need to be right in there to lose fat and keep/gain muscle.
