I am a 65 year old lady living in South East England. Having an under active thyroid I find it difficult to loose weight so unfortunately tend to give up after a month or so if nothing happens. last year I spent 9 months dieting, exercising & being really good & not cheating but only lost 5lb. which as soon as I stopped went back on. so here I am again & I hope it goes better this time!!!

Under active thyroid
hi just read your post sorry not replied before been away.
I have used a knee wrap for extra support & it does help when it plays up badly. also when sitting if you raise & straighten your leg out in front of you then return it to the seated position, several times, it helps strengthen the muscles around & above the knee. the Doctor told me to do this & again it has helped.
Hope it helps improve your mobility.Smile

Under active thyroid
Thanks velvetice, I am on meds as well & also walk & use an exercise bike but as I have a bad knee I cant do it for more than 5 to 10 minutes at time or I then cant walk at all. I do not get sleepy in fact I find I get 5/6 hrs & that's it. Having counted calories & portion controlled for 2 years I got really fed up that's why I stopped for 3 months & put 7lb back on. even though I did not particularly over eat or cut down the exercise by much.
but I am determined to loose at least a stone (14lb) if only so my knee feels the benefit.

Under active thyroid
Hi my name is Glo
I have just started dieting again after a 3 month break. Having an under active Thyroid I find it difficult to loose weight & the last time it took 2 years to loose 14ib, all my doctor said was "yes but you've lost" although I admit I didn't stick to it rigidly.
so this time I am going to eat sensibly rather than deny myself things I will include them into the diet, if I fancy something I will have it but not eat the whole amount in one go. that's the theory anyway lets hope I can stick to it. I really need to as well as I am finding the extra weight is making my Knee hurt & ankles keep swelling up.
the only thing I find is though I loose impetus after a while when I don't loose anything.
thanks for reading
