Hello! I would love to have support buddies I can chat with that are close to my age & losing about the same weight as I am wanting to lose so we can boost each other.

I am a 63 year old mother of 4, grandmother of 8 & great grandmother of 2. I am only 5'3" (lost 2" due to age) & my weight in March at last doctor visit was 254 lbs. I've struggled with my weight since having my 4 children, 254 is my highest so far & hope it never gets higher.

Goal is 145-150 lbs. When I go back for a recheck with my doctor in September I hope I've lost 20 lbs (will be 5 months spent trying to lose the weight). I'd already started drinking water & leaving off the soft drinks about 2 to 3 weeks before starting the diet because of extreme swelling in my feet & hands. Just drinking water I noticed the difference in the way I felt & decided to go farther by starting to cut calories. Not sure of my calories before I started logging but I figured a 1600 calorie a day should help. So I try to get anywhere from 1200-1600 a day, & thinking with my yo-yoing to go to 1000-1200 a day.

We started walking but have had lots of rain the past week which has stopped the walking. Three days ago I started doing Planks which work on core muscles in stomach, back & hips. I read to start out slow as in 3 seconds and work up to 3 minutes. First day I did 3 seconds, second day I did 20 seconds and yesterday I did 17 seconds,did not feel the pull on my muscles hours after yesterdays like I did the other two so today I will try to do 20 seconds or longer.
I started watching carbs but got so confused over daily requirement and per meal requirement that I just try to keep them balanced with my fat and protein intake. We gave a neighbor all our bad foods for her children.
We have chickens so needless to say, we are eating lots of protein. We bought Tuna fish (canned) & canned Salmon, fresh sweet potatoes & a butter nut squash in hopes they would be healthier foods.
