Hi, I am a 44 year old mother of 4 (only one left at home), work full time and in July started back to school full time. I find I have picked up weight from studying so much, so I am excited about starting this diet.

Any suggestions?
Hi! I don't really see how the Atkins diet applies here. In Atkins, the induction phase is for the purpose of having your body go into ketosis. This is not the case in the YOU: on a diet. Actually, the YOU book does say you can have a daily glass of red wine, towards the end of your evening meal. Of course it would be wise to keep the wine to a minimum.

Also, don't measure yourself against other people (yes, I can sound like a mom). The folks that are losing 10 lbs in two weeks are losing water, not fat. Plus, the YOU book says to use your waist as a measurement, not the scale.

Keep up with the walking, the healthy eating, and drinking lots of water. You will lose weight. If you have been a yo-yo dieter, make sure you eat plenty of the healty choices and don't go hungry - with yo-yo's the body is use to the starve/feast cycle, and will conserve the energy/fat as much as possible.

I didn't mean to write a book here. I really just wanted to let you know you are doing a great job and don't get discouraged!

changing the food
My understanding is that you can switch the snacks around, but it is stressed to eat fiber in the morning, so maybe if you are eating the cereal as a morning snack it would work. If you aren't big breakfast eater, how about mixing a handful of Kashi cereal with a few rasins and walnuts and eating it dry like a trail mix? Good luck!
