I'm back from vacation, and of course gained some weight. No bread or pastries, no a alcohol or soda. It's amazing to me how I can gain 5 lbs with only a few chips and ice cream once. It must be from high salt and no ketosis. I hope to whittle it away quickly. I did swim and walk everyday.

I've been putting in 2-6 hours per day of hard work. I'm doing a labor exchange with a friend, repainting an apartment for her and pruning two overgrown yards for me. I have sore muscles every day. I've let go of my intermittent fasting during this period, because I need my morning energy.
I have stayed carnivore throughout, and I'm sleeping like a rock. I have been maintaining my weight and feeling like my metabolism is amped up. Two more days of labor, then a one week vacation with some hiking and swimming at the lake in VT. When I get back, I'll resume some fasting to drive the weight down again.

Here is an amazing video with Ben Bidman. He explains the functions of insulin and insulin resistance. Also exercise. It is the clearest explanation I've heard of how we metabolize food, get fat and how to undo the damage. He's a professor of metabolism. So helpful.

I've had a few days now off the carnivore challenge. I have loaded blueberry bushes and blackberry canes in my yard. I've been harvesting and freezing and eating these scrumptious berries. They are definitely not keto or carnivore, but irresistible, so I'm taking a break. I haven't gone carb crazy, but eaten enough berries to stall my ketosis and my weight loss. Next week, starting in a few days, I'll be on vacation with my kids and grandkids, I'll stay keto, because I just don't eat grains or sugar anymore, but I'm sure there will be no losses for the next 10 days or so. Also, It's birthday month in our family - 4 leos. My plan is to have whipped cream and berries when everyone else is eating cake and ice cream. Since I have Celiac and carb intolerance, I'm used to this.
