I am a 53 year old single male. I have two daughters, both in their 20s. My youngest lives with me. Two of my favorite hobbies are baking artisan bread and brewing home made craft beers. I gained almost 75 pounds over the last 8 years because I was eating too much bread and drinking too much beer. I've always been active because I live on a blueberry farm and raise chickens. I am also an avid mountain climber and mountain biker. I traveled to Colombia to climb in El Cocuy this past summer, and got a hernia because I was too fat. My mountain guide suggested I find a new activity. It was humiliating, a waste of a terrific amount of money and depressing. I vowed to return to my old weight of 190 lbs before next summer.
I am an architect and a university instructor. I work alone from my home office for approximately 6 hours per day 6 days per week. I teach an architectural design studio 2 days per week at a local university. I love my work and my lifestyle, but I am going to stop baking and brewing until after I reach my goal. Even after that, I will never return to my former level of involvement in those hobbies and plan to bake and brew only for special occasions. I love to draw and paint, make furniture, write, and learn foreign languages for travel. I speak English (native) Spanish, Portuguese and I am learning French.
