How Often Do you weigh yourself?
Evolveordietrying wrote:
So I have a question: if daily weight fluctuates, how can you tell real weight loss? What is the margin of error? It seems like one can weigh themselves everyday but that the real measure of loss comes from a weekly weigh-in...is this about right? Question

Evolveordietrying -

I agree. I weigh myself daily just to kind of make sure I'm staying on track, and for the extra motivation to make smart choices, but my using the same day each week I'm able to better track how I'm actually progressing. But i also like to see the trends following s day of higher carbs, or the week before/during my cycle.

Adding recipes to my cookbook
Amazing, from the main page you hit Add Food, then select the appropriate meal as normal. In the bottom right-hand corner it has an icon that says "barcode". That's how it is on my iPhone at least. I noticed the app on my iPad always shows the barcode icon.

metabolic damage
I'm sorry to hear you had such a bad experience. I definitely agree that there are a lot of people out there who claim to have more expertise than they do. Like you said, there are a lot of factors that can influence your personal dietary needs. There's no one-size-fits-all solution. But at least you're taking steps to correct his mistakes! Best of luck to you!

Adding recipes to my cookbook
Hi LawlerJr,

Did you have any luck? I've never added a recipe before, but I went through the motions just now. I believe the scanner is just to add individual items to your daily log., I know I've used it before for that purpose. I was unable to add ingredients from the app on my phone, but I was able to manually enter the ingredients on the desktop version of the site. It does seem like you should be able to scan them, that would be great. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Nutritional Goals
Oh I see, you may be classified as "pre-diabetes". The best part about that is that you can make significant progress through diet and exercise. I believe it's something like being active for as little as 30 minutes a day can help improve insulin sensitivity and keep blood sugar low. And that includes walking! My mom just went back to the doctor on Monday and he took her off one of her medications. Her A1c is 5 something. You can do it too Smile Planning my meals really helps. Sometimes I decide what to eat for breakfast the night before, especially on "fast" days. It helps keep me sane.. I actually graduated in May but I have to get 1200 hours of supervised practice before I'm eligible to sit for the registration exam.
