I work at a Rehab hospital therapy pool. I have a massage license and a Personal Fitness trainer Certification. All this does not mean that I dont have "Junk in the Trunk".

I have a very slow metabolism and I have to work at keeping it up now that I am going thru menopause.

My muscles are in great shape, it is just the stuff on top that I have to get rid of.

I also am weak in the will power department when it come to all sorts of goodies. Pretzles, cookies, icecream, baked goods....ummmmm, yummy! Help!!!!!

I am shifting my minds set to the fact that I want to get the "junk out of the trunk" more than I want the goodies. (Goodies are for rewards every once in a while, not for weekly comsumption!)

I am using Michael Thurman's 6 Week Body Makeover as it is based on everything that I learned in my fitness training program. Use it and it WILL work.

So here I go!!!!!

what do you eat after a workout?
Studies show that 8 oz. of lowfat chocolate milk after a hard work out is the perfect ratio for carbs to protein. (3 carbs to 1 protein) HOWEVER, it MUST be consumed within the first 20 min following your work out.

Great way to enjoy guilt free your chocolate milk!

Treadmill Workouts?
The fat-buring cycle in your body is called the Kreb's Cycle. In order to get to this place you have to walk at 55-70% of your MAX Heart Rate (HR) (to find 70% of your MAX HR you subtract your age from 220. this is your MAX HR. Divide this by 10 and multiply by 7 for your target HR)

If you go over this HR you are not burning fat. You have to walk for a minimum of 35 min in this target HR zone and the more time you go over that, the more fat you burn.

I use this time to focus on my breathing and my posture. I practice walking tall and not bouncing while I walk.I also use this time to visualize what I see my body looking like with the fat gone and the muscle toned. All these things keep me engaged. I feel so much better when I am done!
