I am actually seeing a weight loss, and am able to get into pants i haven't worn in a while because i couldn't button them!! On May 2nd i weighed 194.6. This morning i weighed 183.6. The more i lose, the more incentive it gives me to keep doing what i am doing. I am logging everything i eat or drink. I'm trying to avoid snacking, although i do fail occasionally. The last few days, however, i have actually ended up with more calories that i could have used. I'm currently trying to stay under 1410 calories, and am doing pretty well, except sometime i exceed my sugar, and/or salt intake. I'm tracking my calories and exercise through MyFitnessPal.com, which my doctor recommended.
I am 76 years old, and have a bad knee, and degenerative disk disease and scoliosis, so i con't exercise the way i used to. I try to do 10 minutes of stepping off and on the Wii board each day, but that only burns about 46 or 47 calories. Moving the lawn burns the most calories, and i can hang onto the mower for better support. I also weed eat when i can to burn calories. I'm hoping i will be able to add some other exercises soon. If i can unload all the junk on my treadmill, i will start doing that again, although it's old and no longer keeps track of my calories, etc. All i can do is enter how long i walked. I also have an older exercise bike that i am hoping to work up the stamina to use again. I am determined to get down to a decent weight, again.
My Wii Fit says a good weight for me would be 120 pounds ~ that is SO wrong. I was 5'8-1/4" and weighed 130 most of my younger adult life, and looked anorexic until i quit smoking and gained up to 170 over the next few years. Luckily, i didn't use that as an excuse to start smoking again. But the weight has been a battle ever since. I did get down to 171 using the Wii in early 2009, but then my youngest son died of an accidental prescription drug overdose. He had just turned 48 on Sept 29th, and died on Nov 5th. I lost any and all interest in much of anything, not the least of which was losing weight. I started gaining again, and my max weight was about 210. Due to my disk disease, i have lost in height until i am now 5'4", so the weight is even worse. Hence my decision to finally really make an effort to lose weight. But i certainly don't want to get down to the 120 the Wii says i should weigh, or i would look like a cadaver! If i could get down to about 150, or a minimum of 145, i would be very satisfied. I am so thankful for all of you on FS, and for all the tips and suggestions you post! I wish you all the best of luck. I am posting a photo from a few days ago of my lunch, and another of the salad i made for supper last night, which i ate with a quarter of a cold salmon filet i cooked a day or so prior. The salad consists of spinach from my garden, Romain lettuce, sweet onion, broccoli, boiled egg, avocado, and mushrooms. I had two cups of it with 2 T Brianna's Honey Mustard dressing. There is also 1 T of Brianna's on the half avocado on the other plate.

I've been doing pretty well, lately ~ except for yesterday . . .:o( I'm tracking my meals and my exercise in MyFitnessPal (recommended by by doctor, and since i started doing that i find that i feel more accountable. I am surprised that since May 2nd, i have gone from 194.6 to 185.8. I can't do a lot of exercises, because i have a bad back, and right knee that's bone on bone, and i am not wanting to think about surgery right now; so i am using my Wii Fit to do the Basic Step and Free Step exercises. I am also trying to eat less, and better. Most days, despite my best efforts, i have been going over my allotted calories and sodium and sugar intake. Today,i was amazed that i actually had 245 calories i could still have used, and the only thing i went over on was (just slightly) sugar. Yesterday, however, i went a little crazy, and had a hot turkey sandwich and a small salad at a local diner. I also bought an individual slice of cake in Safeway's aisle of horribly tempting treats that i usually ignore. I was so ashamed of myself that i tried to be extra good today, and it looks like it worked. For supper, i had one small piece of microwaved tilapia and a couple of cups of fresh raw spinach from my garden, with the only bad thing being that i dipped my spinach leaves in Brianna's Honey Mustard Dressing (about 2T). However, the weight from yesterday's splurge may yet catch up with me tomorrow, and i will regret it even more. Right now, i am just basking in being in the 180s, rather than i 190s!
