I was always HWP until I had a rare type of breast cancer at age 49. I opted for a bilateral mastectomy with 6 months of chemotherapy. During the chemo I actually gained 20 lbs. That was over 3 years ago and I'm still struggling with the weight. I read "The China Study" and then began "Eat To Live" by Dr Joel Fuhrman and really liked it. I've also been to a dietitian who recommends focusing on eating 7 to 9 servings of fruits and vegetables daily realistically and between 9 to 13 servings optimally. My downfall is not planning my meals daily. Also, I blew my ACL skiing this spring and just 2 weeks ago I had surgery to replace it. Therefore, my exercise is very limited at the present time.

Types of Yoga
My advice is to find a yoga class that is very close to your home or work and then see if they offer a beginner class (I'm sure they do.) Take the beginner class. Once you have established a point of reference to the poses, breathing, and length of time the poses are held you'll be able to make more sense of the descriptions of different types of yoga. You'll know which type is best for YOU.
