I have always been overweight...always. From infanthood straight through adulthood. However, my weight was usually 20-30 pounds more than what I "should be" so it had always been tolerable. Until I had my daughter.
When I got pregnant I weighed 169, on my 20th birthday, just a month after giving birth, I was back down to 167 and all was "normal" for a while. About mid-July, I began gaining weight, though I was not eating different or moving around any less. From mid-July to mid-October, I went from 167 to 306.
I saw my doctor and was then diagnosed with Hypothyroidism. Since then, October 1992, I have not weighed under 300 pounds except maybe 2-3 times. In addition, I am one of those people who has the eating disorder of under-eating, as a result, my Metabolism slowed down drastically! So, between the Hypothyroidism and sluggish Metabolism losing weight is a major feat in itself.
Then Febrauary past, I was diagnosed as a Diabetic. This has forced me to modify my diet and namely, forced me to eat. I now eat 3-5 times a day (getting in my carbs and such as I am supposed to to keep my sugars level) instead of the usual once a day I have been doing for so many years.
My goal of 180 pounds is reasonable for me because it is a weight I am comfortable at. I would not go below 165 nor would I stop trying to lose if I above 185.
