I have always been overweight...always. From infanthood straight through adulthood. However, my weight was usually 20-30 pounds more than what I "should be" so it had always been tolerable. Until I had my daughter.

When I got pregnant I weighed 169, on my 20th birthday, just a month after giving birth, I was back down to 167 and all was "normal" for a while. About mid-July, I began gaining weight, though I was not eating different or moving around any less. From mid-July to mid-October, I went from 167 to 306.

I saw my doctor and was then diagnosed with Hypothyroidism. Since then, October 1992, I have not weighed under 300 pounds except maybe 2-3 times. In addition, I am one of those people who has the eating disorder of under-eating, as a result, my Metabolism slowed down drastically! So, between the Hypothyroidism and sluggish Metabolism losing weight is a major feat in itself.

Then Febrauary past, I was diagnosed as a Diabetic. This has forced me to modify my diet and namely, forced me to eat. I now eat 3-5 times a day (getting in my carbs and such as I am supposed to to keep my sugars level) instead of the usual once a day I have been doing for so many years.

My goal of 180 pounds is reasonable for me because it is a weight I am comfortable at. I would not go below 165 nor would I stop trying to lose if I above 185.

Cool find, thanks for sharing!

I just did mine, it said 2,000 for me! WOW huh?! There is no way! I was diagnosed (DM) with diabetes in February and was directed to consume 1,500 calories a day to both manage my DM and lose weight! Even still, I don't always even get the 1,500 in...more often than not, I am between 1,200-1,400.

...and I thought I was doing good! GEEZ!

MOTI-WEIGHT TO LOSE CHALLENGE!
Hmm, something that makes me feel good...does napping count? I love to nap! I nap whenever I can...and as often as I can get away with.

Hey, they say you burn more calories sleeping than watching TV, so technically, am I not exercising?! Laughing

First Meal & Carbs
I've read some things on here that I wanted to comment on. One thing is eating first thing when you get up--true enough, that is the best thing to do. Afterall, your body has gone without food for hours. However, I find it a challenge to do this as I have hypothyrodism. My medication has to be taken in the am and after I take it, I cannot eat for one full hour. Eating then taking it is worse, as I have to wait two full hours before I can eat after taking it. By then, I am getting hungry.

So, drinking the breakfast shakes is my only option if I don't want to starve for a while...however, I've yet to find one that isn't heavy and that tastes decent. Anyone have any suggestions? Question

The other thing is carbs. We all need 180 carbs per day for the body to fully funciton properly. That seems like a trove of carbs, but nonetheless, it remains so. Admittedly, while I know this, I do not get that much in...that is a lot of food! I manage to get in around 100 per day.

I find it is impossible to get in over 120 carbs without going over the 1,400 calorie limit.

Arrow I tell you, all this stuff can be tricky!
