Whew! I had been afraid to weigh in because I feared that through shear osmosis I had gained due to all the goodies around me. Christmas Eve we got invited to a friend's house. She is Brazilian and I knew she would have a LOT of meat there so I wasn't too worried. She had a huge pork roast, beef BBQ (more like smoked), and chicken. She also had rice and beans, a spinach salad, and another orzo like salad. She made her own desserts and there were these small cookie like things that weren't very sweet but had a dollop of guava jelly on top. I had one (not to be rude, of course). She also had strawberry cheesecake, and homemade dulce de leche. I did well there.
Yesterday it was just me and my husband. Got up late and stayed on plan all day because I was worried about weighing in today. Tried hard to get in enough fluids. Though it was unseasonably warm here (I think Boston hit a record) I really wasn't too thirsty but the new app I installed on my phone/watch kept reminding me to drink.
Had a good time yesterday just reading through people's journals and comments on the site. I was impressed how many people checked in and regardless how they did, they owned up to it! This is why this is such a good place--people are honest with themselves and support each other.
Hope everyone has a great end to the year and that 2016 will bring success to us all!

After last week's slow loss, I increased my calories and fluid intake and I think this made the difference. People at work really noticing my loss now and are amazed that I am able to resist all of the carby treats that are around the office this time of year. When I tell them that I have no desire for them they are incredulous but it is true. Last year the mere sight of pumpkin bread or fudge would have sent me into a feeding frenzy and I would have started the cycle of binge, weight gain, and guilt...

I have been experimenting with different recipes and even my husband, who is a carb whore (LOL) is starting to eat fewer carbs and ACTUALLY ADMITTING that he feels better! Down about 25 lbs now and for the first time in a long time, I am not cringing at the thought of the holidays coming around.

I am very thankful for the support I get from all of you on this site. Even though I don't journal or comment every day, I do check in and read entries every single day and get more inspiration than I ever had with any other "program," and believe me, I have been through a lot of them. Have a great weekend on plan everyone!

All in all, not a bad week. I found coconut oil capsules yesterday at the local Wal-Mart made by Spring Valley. They are 1 gm of oil per capsule, and it advises taking 2 caps twice daily. I think I will be doing this in the morning with my chicken broth, as I have tried coffee with it mixed in (MBC) and I didn't really like it. I know this isn't really enough fat but it may help kick things off in the morning.

I know we are entering into a difficult time with all the holiday goodies starting to pour in, but it is really important to try to minimize the damage. Logging in your food (honestly!) each day and checking in on FS is going to be crucial. Keep to your weigh in schedule. It is much easier to correct a "small" mistake than a big one. Ignorance is not bliss when it comes to trying to stay on your plan. We'll be here for each other!
