I am a 58 year old woman. Retired from corporate position, living on a lake in Michigan. I still do a lot of consulting work on taxes and career advice for friends and extended family. Happily married for 36 years. I have one grown daughter, who married last year. I live next door to my nephew and his wife and kids, so I am an active Great Aunt to a 6 year old boy and an 11 year old girl. Our friends and family visit fairly often, which is why we chose to retire to a lakefront house!
I have been overweight my whole life, with brief bouts of weight loss, maintained for a few years here and there. I have finally started to focus on just feeling good and making small positive changes that I can stick with. We are on a diet of fresh foods, limiting junky carbs and increasing our activity levels. I have a fitbit device which keeps track of steps, calories, sleep, weight and food intake. The fitbit has really helped me focus on moving more, which has yielded about a 10 pound weight loss over the last 6 months, but I am still 30 pounds from a weight that my doctor and I agree would be a healthy weight for me. I love my doctor, she is realistic and not condescending, and that has helped me focus also.
