I am a 38 year old mother of 2 boys (15 & 7), for many years I have struggled with my weight. I don't like when people say it is hereditary, I don't believe that, I think it is more what we are taught,my mom was an amazing cook she could make dirt taste good and she loved fried foods, I fell into the same routine as hers and ultimately got up 280 lbs, I started trying to lose weight a year ago and lost 40 pounds and then put back on almost 30, I finally made a deal with my husband..you quite smoking and I will lose this weight. We have both been at it since May 24th, My starting weight was 266lbs and I am today at 241, we have both done very well, he has had a few slip up and so have I but we don't shame each other for it, we pick ourselves back up and get back to it the very next day.
It is very important to me to not just lose this weight but to teach my children a healthy life style, I lost my mom when she was only 48, she had a bad diet, drank, chain smoked and ultimately her body started to fight her and she was diagnosed with cancer, she died a few months later. I do not won't my boys to go through what I went through, I want to be here to see my grand kids grow up and I want to see my kids enjoying a healthy life.
We recently started a garden in our back yard, I feel that they will grow to love this activity and appreciate what they eat if they were the ones growing their own food, we are starting small; herbs, tomatoes, peppers, watermelon. Would love to grow spinach but our first batch only made it to a sprout and died, lol trial and error I suppose.
So that's me in a nutshell, there is so much more but don't want to ramble on. If you think we would make good buddies, add me! Would love to make some friends on here :)
