I was always pretty normal - bordering on thin - until I got pregnant. I about doubled in size - but I lost that weight. Then after my second baby when he was not quite 3 I woke up one day and gained 5 pounds, then 2 the next day and so on. In less then a month I had put on more then 30 pounds. I continued to gain weight despite extreme exercise and diets. All I could do was stop the weight gain rapidly piling up - but I couldn't reverse it. I tried Ma-Huang - which did help me lose weight but also made me very ill and I blame it for my current heart problems. On Atkins hard core for 6 months - I lost about 13 pounds - worked out 3 times a day and actually ended up flabby. All that weight came back. I have been on various diet pills and diets - now I just watching the GI and I have been put on Metformin....

Hey, where can I find out more about low carb diets?
I did Atkins for 6 months. I never moved out of phase one. I worked out 3 times a day and by the end of this I lost 13 pounds. However I was crawling up the stairs at the end of the day, and felt tired all the time. The doc made me stop because he felt my kidneys were strained. I did it over the top hard core. Maybe if I had followed the plan as described and moved into the other phases it would have worked. After I left it - still barely eating carbs - gained it all back in a couple of weeks. So now I am doing a modified version - closer to South Beach. I have to watch my carbs and sugars anyway... I would say try it, but make sure you don't go overboard like I did - you body will pay the price. I lost muscle - I was not flabby before the diet - by the end of it I was flabby....

It doesn't work. From what I have read - what works is the real plant and no the parts of plant they put in the capsules. Also they are not requlated and you could be taking sawdust or oregano or some other filler.... I tried different brands - none worked - but one did make me have horrible stomach pains.....

Medications
It depends what you are taking. I am on Hyzaar (was on atenolol too - which does cause weight gain) and Crestor. I would ask your doc for sure, but my doc said my medications are associated with weight gain, which of course makes your blood pressure higher - the more you weigh and all...
