Start Weight

Lost so far: 21.4 lb

Current Weight
162.2 lb
Performance: gaining 0.8 lb a week

Goal Weight
160.0 lb
Still to go: 2.2 lb
I am 69 years old and I have fought my weight all of my life. Last year I sprained an ankle and damaged a tendon. It was very painful and I needed a walker to get around for six or seven months. I gained even more weight, about 30 lbs, getting me to my highest weight, 270. It is so hard to lose weight now. I remember when I was in my 20s and I could skip dinner and be down 3 lbs by morning. Those days are gone. :-/ Two years ago my husband passed away and I am still trying to learn to shop/cook for one. I have two dogs who are getting fat from eating my leftovers. I have started aerobic walking again (Leslie Sansone). It helped me lose weight in the past so I hope it will give me a boost now. I'd like to reach my goal weight by my 70th birthday next March.

Walking at Home
I can't find it today but yesterday someone mentioned walking 2 1/2 miles around her house. This is a great idea I never thought of! I am recovering from the after effects of COVID-19. I have a "persistent pleural effusion". I have not been able to exercise because the effort to breath puts strain on my heart. I am 78 years old. Yesterday my pulmonologist gave me permission to start walking gradually as long as it does not make breathing more difficult. Not exercising has been hard on me. I have been maintaining a 95 pound weight loss for seven years and recently lost another 15 pounds. Walking in the house solves the problem of what do I do if I am half a mile from home and exhausted? I wish I could remember your name but thank you so much for posting that.

How Often Do you weigh yourself?
I like that plan. I don't like to weigh myself every day because I can get obsessive about the number. But if I only record one "official" weigh in per week maybe I'd be less upset by 'adjustments'.
