Started really paying attention to my diet & exercise back in December of 2009. I was at 131 lbs - just a little too much for my 5'2" size. I'd been small all my life, and it seemed that, out of nowhere, the weight was just there. I hadn't been paying attention and was still eating as though I was 22 years old even though my activity level had dropped significantly. I still thought I had that young metabolism.

Began using the treadmill everyday, whether it was running, jogging or walking. Started out slowly and was actually able to jog a half marathon at 6 mph after a month or two. Me, the girl who always used to pass out after the run for the Presidential Physical Fitness test back in school oh so many years ago.

Found the calorie counter app for my phone began recording exactly what I was eating and my exercise. By doing that faithfully every day, it kept me honest. Seeing it was the biggest help ever.

I cut down on my drinking considerably even though I still allow myself to enjoy a cocktail now & then.

Since December, I've lost 17 pounds and am now at 114 lbs which is exactly where I wanted to be. I'm still going to monitor my diet & activity, though, because I don't want to be the soft pillsbury dough girl ever again.
