I am a 64 year old woman with an aversion to exercise but a great fondness for nice food especially chocolate. I enjoy music, reading and television, the latter too much! I also enjoy cooking which is part of my downfall. Weight gain was never a problem until I had a serious accident some years ago. First I lost a pile of weight and became almost skeletal and then as I recovered the weight seemed to pile on and stay on. Although I never became overly overweight I have carried probably up to 2 stone at worst. On it goes, off it goes, on it goes.....neverending cycle. I feel great when I'm near my ideal weight and heavy, lethargic and unhappy when I'm carrying around excessive pounds. So, reckon it's about changing my lifestyle and paying attention and of course some exercise. So I've taken up dancing, I'm going to plan meals and introduce early nights. That'll be a start for 2016 and I'm feeling very optimistic👌

Recommendations for an accurate scale?
My wight fluctuates depending on what time of the day I get on the scales. So if I weigh myself after I've had my two mugs of green tea, I'm heavier. Makes sense I suppose.I now weigh myself first thing in the morning. I got digital scales which also give your body fat and BMI. It's nice to see them all reducing (when they do Smile

Avoid Negativity
Hi Steph Stu, I'm sorry you've been disappointed. I hope you're feeling more heartened now. I think feedback can sometimes miss the mark so make it like a buffet: just swallow the bits you want and ignore the rest. Different strokes for different folks, as they say.
eKatherine I'm seriously impressed with your maths. And what a nice woman you are to take the time to work it out. Smile

Hairy Dieters Cook Book
I haven't got the book but the Hairy Bikers (assume that's the same duo) had a programme on BBC which was excellent. Their recipes are on the BBC Good Food site. They looked very tasty on TV. Will be making the chicken korma and the sweet and sour. Yum yum
