What is Cardio?..Which is the winner?..Pros and Cons..So what to do then...Lets go!
Much appreciated my friend. I'm one of these people who is aware of the many qualities of proper circuit training for cardio purposes, yet never gets round to actually doing them! Razz

For cardio I admit I use the rowing machine and cross-trainer more than I likely should (45-50 mins a session on very tough resistances), which ususally burns off an estimated 600-700 calories. Then I go to free weights and work through different muscle groups doing 3 sets of 8 reps at a time. I'll prob spend an hour doing this in a circuit.

Hopefully reading this will finally inspire me to incorporate circuit training into my routine more often. I'll also look into your warrior routine Wink.

Thank you for the advice, and the dedication you put into writing it. I'm sure many people will find it useful.

WATER DOES A BODY GOOD
I'd like to drink a gallon of tea every day... that would be nice. I like tea.

EATING LESS MEAT!
Indeed. Everything is ok in moderation. I also eat a lot of healthy chicken and fish for the nutritional value. However if you're eating macdonalds every day then that's clearly not the way to go Razz.

I think meat substitutes such as quorn are a great way to go if you're wanting to eat less meat. They're a tad on the expensive side, but they contain lots of protein and little fat. I particually like the sausages. If you casserole them up with onions, peppers, and other veg they tend to absorb the flavour of the sauce well and you can hardly tell the difference Smile.

Balancing carbs, fats, AND calories??
Carbs come in many forms. Unless you're specifically going for a low carb diet then you will need a certain amount of carbs to sustain yourself. I personally try to keep fat levels to a mininum (Especially saturated fat of course), and also try to eat as little sugar as possible. Sugar is one of the most simple forms of carbohydrate and is broken down very quickly. Therefore your body gets lots of energy from it quickly, but if you're not burning this energy then it will be converted straight to fat.

More complex carbohydrates are much better for you. Carbs with low GI scores (meaning they take longer to break down and so keep you full for longer) are an important part of most diets. They give energy and make you feel full, and are broken down at such a speed that they won't be converted quickly to fat.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Life after weight loss
I admit that I origionally started losing weight in an attempt to entice other women after me and my girlfriend seperated a few months back.

However, as it transpired, women aren't as fickle as I'd briefly envisaged. So it turned out that the problem was, in fact, my personality after all... ah sweet, sweet irony Razz.

Luckily, I have discovered a number of other benefits from losing the weight. I enjoy working out now, so I've been able to compete in a couple of 10k runs for charity. This has also inspired me to quit smoking. I also no longer drink during the week (often)as I'm thinking of the calories. Plus after working out confidence is always high Smile.

My cooking skills have improved no end too, now that I have to be more inventive with my ingredients and the way I make things.
