Good Morning, FatSecret Warriors! Well, I’ve been a bad boy over the weekend. Perhaps anxiety made me do it. :) My diet kind of went south. Friday, I did not want to eat breakfast or lunch before traveling to the interview, and by the time supper rolled around, I was starving. Then they rolled in Avanti’s spaghetti and sub sandwiches. I ate like I was starving. That set the tone for the rest of the weekend’s seminar. Anyway, I was confirmed and unanimously recommended for ordination at the next District Assembly by the District Board of Elders. The District Assembly usually happens around May, but due to the pandemic was not held this year. Perhaps it will be held this coming May and I will get ordained with the ones who were approved last year. It’s a pretty big deal in the Nazarene denomination and they like to ordain elders (Preachers) when the whole District is present, and the service is facilitated by one of the General Superintendents of the denomination. But it’s great to know that I have the confidence of the District now. Well, that’s probably more than you ever wanted to know about Nazarene credentials. Back to the eating plan, but probably not seriously until tomorrow. :)

Down a pound! Yay! The FatSecret Wizard tells me that it is going to take me eleven months to reach my goal weight. That sounds good; it took me 70 years to get here. I probably indulged more yesterday than I have since I started on the 3rd. It wasn’t terrible - I ate more than the self-inflicted RDI but quite a bit less than the one that FatSecret recommended. The suit fits; YAY! The buttons may become a missile hazard if I don’t unbutton them before I sit down; but hey, mission accomplished. But not to fear, this is only the beginning of this lifestyle change. I’m going to get er done this time.

Today and tomorrow I will be having my Ordination interview and attending a preparatory seminar. I haven’t got time to indulge due to nerves. :) I’ve been the only pastor here for four years now, so I have no reason why I wouldn’t have the confidence of the denomination, so there really isn’t anything to be nervous about. I was more nervous when I had my gall bladder removed in 1984. The temp dropped to zero last night; first time since last winter. I’m trying not to put on a winter coat this year; but I don’t plan on hibernating anyway. My biggest challenge today and tomorrow will be dining away from home. I will just have to make the best choices I can, given the options available due to this Corona virus, but I think I’ll do fine.

Toodles!

A little bit of a drop this morning. At least I am consistently below 270 now. It’s not an easy journey because I am so accustomed to eating without discretion. I know that I can take the weight off; I am too strong-willed to be beaten by something once I put my mind to it. The real challenge is to develop the mindset that this is the “New Norm” and not just a means to an end. Once I have truly accepted that my new norm is approximately 1500 calories a day of nutritious food, then I will be able to call it a true lifestyle change. I think that a major reason we fail in this journey is that we have it in the back of our mind that once we have achieved some goal, then we can relax and have what we really want. Until the healthy alternative becomes what we really want, we will always feel that we are depriving ourselves; and as long as we feel that we are depriving ourselves, and sacrificing the pleasure of indulgence temporarily, our journey will always be temporary. This time I am on a journey to a permanent lifestyle change. Make sense?
