This has been an amazing week for me. This challenge is certainly helping with my struggle with hypothyroidism and FM. Fresh fruits and veggies, great salads, home made foods, lots of water, and daily exercise all contributed to me being able, for the first time in about a year, to work two weeks of 40 hours each. :)

Water is easy for me to do (which is making me question why I didn't do it sooner), and walking is fun (now that my arthritic knee is cutting me some slack). Eating salad at dinner is proving not to be as easy. I love salad but I'm trying to recover from a year's worth of hypothyroidism and heavy duty fatigue. By the time I get home from work and tend to a few chores that need to be done everyday, I'm ready to crash. I will "work smarter" to find a better routine that incorporates making salad "parts" ahead of time. For example, cutting up some of my favorite greens like green lettuce and arugula, and some "toppers" like tomato, peppers, onion and putting them in little containers so all I have to do is "assemble". Assembly required. ;) *That* should do it.

K-T Tape Saves the Day!
I have arthritis in my knee. This wreaks havoc on my exercise regime and is painful throughout the day. A cortisone shot helped reduce the inflammation. The daily pain, however, was becoming unbearable.
Then a co-worker, seeing me wearing one of those pharmacy-bought knee braces, told me to go to YouTube and look up K-T tape. YouTube? Seriously? (I should know better having learned about both of my surgeries from films on YouTube.) He was someone I trusted so I picked up a role of "Rock Tape" (a rose by any another name is still a rose, right?), went home and watched several YouTube instructional videos on the proper placement of the tape for various knee conditions.
It works! It works! It really works!
I applied the tape according to the instructions. About 30 minutes later, after getting lost watching all kinds of instructional videos not related to knees or K-T tape, I pushed my chair back and stood up. And was startled because I was expecting that shock of pain that usually radiated out from the left side of my knee and...nothing. There was no pain. I'm not saying that my knee doesn't still ache a bit (K-T does not cure arthritis ;) but that sharp pain is gone.
So, wow. Tape. Tape helps reduce or possibly eliminate pain. It's not just any tape and I've since discovered that there are many manufacturers of kinesiology tape that I will leave to you to research and discover your favorite brand.
It still blows my mind that kinesiology tape, placed in the appropriate manner, can be such a powerful ally for fighting muscle, tendon, joint, bone pain.
Life sure is an adventure!
