My challenge with sugar
Yes, sugar addiction is a real thing. I have it just like you. Low carb diets work great for me because I love meat and salad. But one bite of a sugar laden cookie or cake and I'm off again. I sneak sweets in the house and hide them till my husband goes to sleep. It's terrible but it's like being an alcoholic you crave it. I can't even eat most fruits because of the sugar content so stick to strawberries and blueberries for my morning shakes. So this is day two of my sugar free challenge. When I first start I allow my self to eat things I normally wouldn't on my carb diet (such as nuts and chips) for a few days to try to cope without the sugar. If I can make it a week then I will tighten up on my low carb diet. (please tell my husband not to make that cheesecake he wants). So good luck and I'm with you just do it 1 day at a time. Good luck.
