After having bypass surgery one of the meds prescribed was Amaroderine. It had a serious side effect in that it altered my taste buds. I couldn't eat breads, meat
or veggies. They took me off of the med but unfortunately it has an in the body half-life that can last up to a year. My taste buds are improving gradually and I'm picking out those foods that will give me enough calories etc. to gain my weight back.

Weight on
Well, finally. Over the last couple of weeks my weight has been bouncing between 128. and 132.Sad This AM I weighed in at 134.2. Yay, it's about time. If I can put on 2-3 pounds a week that would be swell. We'll see. There are still a lot of things I can't eat but the medication (Amiodorone)is finally wearing off. The only meat I can eat at this time is pork but that's an improvement over two weeks ago when I couldn't eat any meats.Smile

Yes, I have a blender but hadn't thought about shakes and smoothies. Thanks for the tip, I'll get some ingredients and make some shakes.

Weight Gain
Hi, I know that losing weight is challenging and one's diet has to be adhered to vigilantly. I never thought that the reverse would be true. I had an operation in late December that went well except for one thing. I was given Amioderone. Well, it didn't kick in at first but when it did it messed up my taste buds big time. All of a sudden I couldn't eat breads, meats of any kind or veggies. Needless to say I had to find out what I can and can't eat by trial and error. My weight was 155 in Jan. It's now 130. I've finally found some foods that I can eat that are helping me get my weight back. I've been told that Amioderone has a half life and doesn't wash out of the body quickly. I can take up to a year. Sad
