Special diet and gaining weight after quitting smoking
I am new to this site and so far have loved it. I have never counted calories, so this is all new to me.
In June of this year, I had surgery, an ileostomy(like a colostomy, a bag), and I quit smoking after 25 years. YIPPEE, a huge feat to say the least.
My problem is, I have gained too much weight, 130 pounds before surgery to 152 pounds now. YIKES I am small framed and this is obviously too much weight. I am a 40 year old female.
My diet is extremely limited due to the "bag" situation and I am on a low fiber, low residue diet and this will probably be for the rest of my life. This basically means I eat mostly white foods, like white bread, white rice, chicken, baby food bananas, etc.
I feel hungry alot and have found myself craving sweets, mainly hard candy like candy canes. And since quitting smoking, I have found I don't have the self control like I once did. I used to smoke when hungry and now I can't do that. LOL
Has anyone encountered anything like this? If anyone has any advice I would appreciate it. I did weigh in this morning and the scale said 148, but I am not sure if this is accurate because 4 pounds in less than week seems extreme to me.
I drink water only, no juice, tea, or cokes.
Thanks so much for any input
