WOW! 8 miles is such an accomplishment. I just finished a 9 week podcast training that was based on a prgram called couch potato to 5k. It was great but I am just up to just over 3 miles and it is still hard. When I run on a treadmill I can go farther, but I have th belt to keep me moving. On a track it is harder. I am striving to get up to that range! You are great motivation.
