glen- its all good though right? my clothes are looser than ever so the scale is just gonna have to catch up when its ready! In the meantime, just focusing on my daily goals! I like lifting weights because it forces me to focus more on how my clothes fit as a much more accurate marker of progress than the scale. 😉

Maybe your scale is calculating net ...something or other? :-)

@ T8U9 Maybe, on the other hand, Bluecoaster is building muscle with her weights. This could be why the scale isn't moving much, but her clothes fit better. Muscle takes up less space in a woman's body than a man's, making her look longer and leaner.

I lifted weights in my 30's - I know the drill. It's definitely the weight lifting. When the scale doesn't budge much but clothes are falling off- you are with retaining or building muscle while losing pure fat which doesn't weigh as much as lean mass.

fat and muscle weigh the same - but muscle is dense and compact

I meant per square inch, square foot and so on.... etc- fat weighs a lot less.

Ditto...HCB. Isn't a great 👍 feeling as your body reshapes itself? I just realized why my 44bra was hanging on me? Because it's the same one from 40lbs ago and I'm a 38" now. Most of us have body image issues throughout our life. It's time to affirm the changes your making. Celebrating every accomplishment.

Oh dear ceiling, mansplaining on FS. @Crstlgls, really nobody on FS needs muscle weight vs fat and water spelled out. Also, smiley face often indicates a joke.

T8U9- I really don't think crstlgs intentionally meant to sound condescending. ❤️ I see in the profile there may be an issue being on the "spectrum" that can make certain social situations/ communications challenging. But, back to the original topic truthfully the situation is experienced by both women and men who lift weights that the scale may move slowly or not at all while the body continues to get leaner and clothes get looser. Sorry about my overall lack of writing ability today- I have a headache and I'm just not my usual self. 😕

Sorry about that, then. I have usual headache and am feeling short-fused all around.

No worries. I think it coulda been read either way. I hope both our headaches resolve soon. My kids are laughing because I seriously keep accidentally saying the wrong words over the past 24 hrs.
