Back to "normal", weight from beer weekend #714 came back off. 241.6 again!

Wife and I deviated quite a bit from our Journey Thurs-Saturday. Wifey actually said she wants to cut down on the adult beverages. I can say I do agree with her too, it certainly causes a ruckus in our routine for weight loss. Both of us binge drink probably more than we should, but hey, we cut loose and have fun for the most part. I have a friend coming into town I have not seen in about a year this week, so I am sure I have at least 1 more beer weekend in me.

Last night I made some wonderful lemon garlic chicken, and it came out super! I hit a home run with that recipe, and it was healthy and served with brocolli and asparagus. I wont go into details about the butter sauce, but it was 2 TBSP divided into at least 4 servings. :-)

We are planning a BBQ for our visitor, who is coming in from several months at sea on a ship. Wifey went out and bought Turkey Burgers/Veggie Burgers, and Turkey Dogs. I am pretty sure my biker friend off the boat is not into this type of thing, but hey, its not a ship meal, so it will be good. I will try and do what I can to salvage the meal. He is not much of a foodie anyway, so as long as there are cold beers we will be OK.

Also, on a more depressing front, we found out my wife's mother has cancer in her colon recently. Subsequently we found out that it has spread to her liver, so the outlook is quite grim. Sad too, because Winny is a saint of a person, who goes to church, eats right, and has no unhealthy vices. She is about 80, so she has had a full life. Now our issue is my wife wants to go visit, which I fully condone, but for how long, and when. All questions I don't have the answer too, nor does she, nor does anyone really. So wow, what a eye opening event. Cancer is a terrible thing, and support is a rough road too.

So today I am grateful for life, and my loved ones. I am grateful for my wife and kids. We sometimes treat each other crappy, but i know there is so much love there. I am grateful for my fatsecret community, and having a place to vent. I am also grateful my journey is ongoing, and I know that, and that I decided to do something healthy for myself before getting shocked with reality.

/Cheers, JP

So sorry to hear about your MIL. These things are always so hard to deal with. I'm glad Wifey has a great guy like you on her side. I know you'll be there for her - she needs it. Cutting down on the beers sound like a good idea. It's never wise to drink your calories, as you don't really get "anything" from them. Also, see it this way - lose some more weight, and you'll get drunk faster! :)

Thanks everyone! I hope to be able to support my wife during these times, I think that is one of my better qualities. Good point Kingkeld on the weight loss positive thoughts! Less body mass = drunk quicker! lol.
