Add 5 habits:
1. Eat vegetables and fruit (no problem there).
2. Eat a healthy breakfast (healthy being a key word)
3. Eat whole grains (not sure about this one)
4. Eat healthy fats (again no problem)
5. MOVE! Excercise - but I did feel best when I was walking...

Break 5 habits:
1. No TV while eating (no more munching during Criminal Minds or the cooking shows :( )
2. No sugar, except what's found in fruit naturally (tough one).
3. No snacks - except vegetables and fruit (another tough one).
4. Moderate meat & low-fat dairy (meat ok; low-fat dairy ????)
5. No eating at restaurants (including fast food, hmm).

Maybe it's not the diet plan for me. I'm ok with no sugar - or no added sugar, sugary beverages, etc... but the low-fat dairy??? not sure. And the only snacks as fruit and vegetables? What about a brownie and some ice cream?

This choosing a plan is hard. I think I need to adapt a few from here, and a few from there and basically just watch calories - following the Mayo Clinic's Healthy Weight Pyramid fairly close. I mean they have jelly beans in the snack picture! maybe they are sugar free?

Let's see what other plans are out there as well...

186.0 lb Lost so far: 0 lb.    Still to go: 66.0 lb.    Diet followed N/A.

I picked up the Mayo Clinic diet at the library early in jan as a new years resolution and just got around to reading it yesterday. I think it should work, even though is look difficult, at least to get me back on track. Two months ago I decided to adopt the four vegetable and three fruit per day (from the DASH diet) as a way to reduce Blood pressure. That is the only change that I made, I havent been excersizing, and I have been eating way too many sweets and watching too much TV. But I hadn't been monitoring my weight, but noticed clothes fitting better. So I lost 8 lbs, 175 to 167, just with that change. Fortunately many of the habits they suggest to add I already do (eat breakfast, eat real food) I have just ordered the book. So I am going to start tommorrow. Do you want to start together and try to support each other. Do you have the journal? I am going to make a table in WORD to keep track. Kris (xiaoweimom)

I'm restarting this diet, but am taking it one step at a time. Althoug some may just fall in place. This week I'm tryig to cut the Dew habit I once again have. I've quit it three times before so I know I can do it. For the new habits, I'm working on the excercise one. We can follow each other along, I have no problem with that. I havn't been very good about logging in here though. I need to work on that as well.
