Teacupsmom's Journal, 09 June 2016

So, of the measurements I keep track of, I have lost almost 13" total since I started keeping track of them. I'm not sure I am measuring right, because sometimes it feels like stuff fits different and sometimes it don't.

So, since the beginning of this little journey I decided to do, I have lost a total of 8.6 pounds of crap. I do feel better already, and the energy level is awesome already and I can't wait until I have the energy I feel like I should have at my age. My doctor finally got me on the right anti-inflammatory to be able to make it through my work day and beyond without extreme pain in my ankles...especially my left one.

I have never tried some of the things I plan on grabbing when I go shopping later today, but you all make things sounds so delicious, that I think I may have the courage to try some new things. Besides chicken, bacon, eggs and cheese are getting a little boring. Anyone one have any advice for me as far as basics to have around besides the above?

How is it done? Chest, arm, waist, hip, thigh, calf?

I'm just keeping strict track of my waist, hip, chest, and the area under your chest that determines the bra size. Maybe not the places I should exactly be doing, but it's where I am seeing the most changes.. I do have beginning measurements of my thighs and arms too...but those are hard to measure alone for me yet...still a bit too big to see the tape clearly...but I have noticed tiny changes in them too.

Your thirteen lost inches are from four sites measured? That's really good.

I am not doing LCHF, but spinach is delicious with eggs. I wilt it in the fat before adding the eggs. I also bought some organic mayonnaise. It's a nice fat I use to make salad dressing. You need coconut oil always. It's good cooking fat, but also good to apply to your skin for yeast or fungus. It's used to make fat bombs, too.

I counter inflammation issues with using turmeric in my eggs every morning and also in other dishes. I try to use at least 2 tsp a day. I also eat a lot of radish tops along with the radish. They are a staple in the garden. The greens are considered a super food right. I love the greens and roots stir fried for the week, then add to eggs for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The problem for me is I do not grow enough, but have the new larger crop coming to size soon. I like turnip or mustard greens better than spinach as they add some crunch and bolder flavor than spinach. I cook two whole eggs then when partially cooked I add in a carton of egg whites, then add chopped greens and stir till the eggs are cooked. That is my staple breakfast. Want to break up the monotony, use different spices like chili powder, cayenne, garlic, ginger, turmeric, garam masala, Sichuan peppercorns, or even add fresh cilantro, mint, Italian parsley to create ne flavors for the same ingredients.

Suggestions - mix up ingredients in new ways, such as hard-boiled eggs and black olives (egg salad, wrap in lettuce leaves or spoon onto cucumber slices), or tuna (or canned salmon) and cheese - get creative. Make a spread of salmon and cream cheese with a dash of lemon juice. There are lots of great low carb recipes at genaw.com

Just one word of caution (which I know doesn't apply to everyone) -- watch the turmeric if you are on blood thinners or have any type of clotting problem as it can "double-up" on the effect. I only mention this because turmeric seems to be a "spice of choice" now and not everyone is aware of the side effects.

So, I came home with Coconut Oil, one Avocado(cuz i never had it before so i don't know if i will like it), heavy cream and stevia for my coffee, more lettuce and more tomatoes. I also got some almond flour, coconut flour, almonds, tuna, salmon, canned chicken (for when i don't have the real thing handy), I must have put the cashews back, and I forgot to get the sunflower kernels! >:( I always have real butter, real mayo, green olives, and pickles here. I do have a small can of black olives, but I only ever liked them on pizza..so I will figure something else out to use them in/on. OH...I got little sample packs of almond butter, chia seeds, and flaxseed...cuz I saw a few recipes with them in and thought, what the heck...if I don't like it...I'm not out 10 bucks a piece for them....NOW!!!!!! To find some more yummy looking recipes!

Teacupsmom, do a low carb search on Pintrest, they have gobs and gobs of easy, interesting and tasty recipes....just beware, sometimes they call it low carb and one serving will have like 20 net carbs. What is low carb to some folks is high carb to others so check the nutrition content when it is available!

Thank you Debra and everyone else for the input! You have no idea how much it means to me to have the support. I have very little here at home. Boyfriend isn't willing to give up certain things...so i basically cook two meals...one common thing and then separate on the sides.... but he also has not stopped me or tried to tempt me to cheat at all...

That's a start Teacupsmom, I had to do the same thing for the longest time, he did support me, but I still had to cook two meals and have things in the house I could not eat, two months ago he adopted my WOE partially, he does not add the extra fat into his diet, but he eats what I eat and he eats the same snacks I do, you never know what the future will bring!
