I've been following my calorie restriction very well the last week. I'm not the best at changing my diet, as shown by my failures to lose weight in the past. I'm trying to restrict my caloric intake and learn to eat proper portions before I make any major diet changes. For the most part, I've been eating food that I would normally eat, but I've really tried to cut out all the unhealthy snacking that I did before. it seems to be working so far! I'm starting to get a sense of what decent portion sizes are, and the proper portions are starting to satisfy my appetite now. I'm feeling hopeful!
Any small tip or tricks are always greatly appreciated!

I think your approach is sound -- first, concentrate on just lowering calorie intake and once that becomes 'routine,' THEN start refining the foods you're eating and paying closer attention to your macros (fat/carb/protein ratios) to figure out what 'mix' works best for you in terms of getting proper nutrients, feeling satiated so that you're less tempted to snack, losing weight AND is something you can follow/practice long-term.
