Fledgist's Journal, 30 September 2011

Down a little again this morning. I did 55 minutes in the gym yesterday. My weight has slid downwards a bit this week, which is a good thing. I'm ending the month more than 104 pounds below what I weighed a year ago. Since I started this process in late March 2010 I've dropped 194+ pounds. My rate of loss is slowing as I near my goal, which isn't surprising. It was a lot faster at the beginning, very fast when I was recovering from surgery, a steady 10 pounds a month for a while, but it is slowing down now.

It looks as if it will take four months or so, maybe a bit less, to reach my goal. So I'll be at my target weight sometime in January. It looks as if it will take less than two years to have shed 216 lbs (15 stone 6 lbs) of excess weight.

Meanwhile, I have other things to do. This weekend I have to work on my promorion portfolio. That has to be ready in two weeks, and this weekend is the only clear time I have to really work on it. To say I'm nervous would be understating it.
185.8 lb Lost so far: 151.2 lb.    Still to go: 17.8 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Wow, I know I've said that before - wow - its unbelievable, isn't it, that someone could carry around that much excess weight and equally unbelievable that you had the willpower to shed it. I don't 'know' you but so incredibly proud of you/for you. And good look with the promotion stuff. Have you found any discrimination if that's the right word around your previous weight? Just wondering if you will be taken more seriously now that you are at a more 'normal' weight. Women often feel penalized because of their size and are not always taken seriously when they are 'plus sized'. anyway, all that aside. again congrats on an absolutely superb job. Its frustrating that its slowed but at least its still moving!

Thanks. I've had a lot of support from my colleagues. I think I will be taken more seriously because I've shown this kind of determination. A lot of people from other departments have commented on it. Thank you for your kind words. They do mean a lot.

So awesome, it really is hard to believe you can cart that kind of weight around every day, could you carry another person around on your back all the time.....it is amazing what the body can do, you would think we would just collapse under all the weight. It makes you feel giddy. I think you just feel better about yourself in front of other people and don't think about your weight which you can't help when when so overweight. I know it is slow going now, but at least you are feeling the results of your very hard work.

Fledgist - Thinking about "carrying" extra weight around - when we went holiday this year, one of our suitcases was 25kgms - I could barely lift it, it was so heavy - I then worked out it was 10 pounds LIGHTER, than the weight I had been carrying around this time last year!!! That thought was amazing to me - how I did it, I do not know, no wonder I was tired most of the time. You would be about 1 3/4 our suitcase weight - wow.... I bet you would struggle to lift that :-). Well done again - it certainly puts it in perspective

It does make you feel giddy. Of course, you're carrying the 'extra person' more or less evenly distributed around the body, which makes it easier. Still, I have enough trouble carrying a heavy bag! Much less a person weighing as much as I do now. Thanks all. It's a rough road, and I'm glad of your support.
