Sandy701's Journal, 08 September 2011

Walked 3.1 miles again today in great weather, although just a wee bit warmer (71 at start). Lab gal went 1.6 miles and Collie guy did the full 3.1 miles.

ADDED LATER: OK, all set for the Packers game tonight. My calories will be higher, but it's in keeping with Atkins...a good amount of cheese cut up and skewered with green and gold-tasseled toothpicks, along with some beef snack bites cut up even smaller (and boiled) so it seems like I'm getting more. I can forego the meat with my salad tonight because I'm high enough on protein through other sources.

This isn't an everyday occurrence, but just a way to add some food fun into the game festivities.

Sandy - you had mentioned somewhere about how you were cutting calories even if it meant more carbs (Now I know this should be obvious - Duh). So now I'm doing things like substituting some half and half for cream, diluting my salad dressings, etc. My goal was 1,600 cals yesterday and I ate 1,509. So - thanks again. Sometimes stating the obvious is more helpful than you know.

Buffy...glad that idea is helping. For me, the jury's still out on this "tweak" mostly due to me finding that thread over on Atkins discussing keeping TOTAL carbs below 50. That made a lot of sense to me, as I stopped losing (July) when my monthly average total carbs went higher, into the mid- to upper-40's range, compared to the upper 30's last fall. Technically, I lost 3-4 pounds in August, although it all seemed to be at the beginning of the month. Anyway, I'm still trying to balance out what I "think" will work - and some days, my thinking changes from hour to hour! But I can say that my focus has been keeping total carbs below 50, and, ideally, at or below 40. I have 3 different salad dressings going right now....full fat, "light", and non-dairy, all with varying degrees of calories and carbs. I end up using whatever fits best for the day. Some days, my brain hurts! Keeping my fingers crossed that these new factors work for you.

Hi GG - thanks for stopping by. My pups don't get the running that your gal does, but they still like being out and about with a good change of scenery.

Sandy, she really trots, I shouldn't say run...I do the running, she trots along, there is NO WAY I could out run her, I can't even out do her on my bike!
