I really love food and I've been overeating the past few days due to some stressful work. My plan to help me meet a 1200 cal goal for weightloss is to give myself 300 calories per meal. This should help me focus on more vegetables and fruit and smaller portions of meat and carbs.

1200 calories is not enough food, unless you're already a toothpick :-/ Do you know what your TDEE is? (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) It's what your body burns between rest AND exercise. There are many calculators out there to figure yours out. You take your TDEE and then subtract 10-20% and that's the amt of calories you should be eating. Don't put your body in starvation mode or you won't get anywhere. I'm 5'3" and 148lbs. There's NO way, I'd go as low as 1200 calories, not even if I was lying in bed all day because my body burns more than that in my sleep (if I slept 12 hrs). SEriously, figure out what your TDEE is and go from there. It's a VERY important number EVERYONE should know. My TDEE is 2250. That's what my body burns on a daily basis if I include exercise that burns about 300 calories. So in order for me to lose weight SAFELY, I need to consume between 1500-1700 a day (1500 on a day I don't do much). I could go as low as 1450 but definitely not every day. It's not healthy for my weight/height.

Yeah, I'm 5'0. My TDEE is around 1600/1700. If I'm very active, it can hit 2000. I've been doing a daily weigh in and comparing with what I eat/calorie intake. 1200 is target weight loss for me. By eating lots of fruit and veg and not snacking, I come in right here and the pounds come off. Above 1300 = maintain and if I regularly hit 1600+ I begin to gain weight. So, yes, 1200 would not be good for you, but it is for me.
