Katsolo's Journal, 23 January 2024

Yesterday was indeed crazy and chaotic in San Diego. I’m okay, mom is okay, there are places that most definitely are not. I got roughly 2.5 inches of rain at the house in about 1.5 hours. It was worse in other places. This is El Niño, it used to be like this when I was growing up and when I first moved here, but people forget. The 5 freeway flooded, parts of downtown flooded, and my instinctual fear of underground parking has been validated. An intersection I had driven through on Sunday had 6’ of water raging through it. Anyways, I’m fine. Anything you see on the news or YouTube is absolutely true.

We got out for a very short walk during a break between storms and then I ended up rowing and skiing pretty late at night. Not great for sleep, but mentally it was great. That said, the rowing workout i picked was a little too easy, I didn’t get my heart rate up there and I wasn’t tired enough at the end of 30 minutes. Which is interesting because I’m far from an elite athlete. I’ll play with the damper settings and do some research. Might also keep using the guided workouts, but at a higher pace for the sprints.

Keeping it short, busy workday. More rain expected, but hopefully it’s just normal stuff.

Blob up a tiny notch, water up, muscle up. Normal from harder workout. Imagine what I could do if i really focused on this. 😜 There are some things I’m working on, knee rehab is going really well, legs are looking leaner. Anyways, only so many hours in the day. Onwards!

That's a lot of rain in a short time. My rain gauge shows 4 inches from when the rain started, Friday or Saturday through Monday. Dry today with more rain tomorrow.
