The fear is real. People I’m not related to are coming for Thanksgiving and I have just over a week to prepare or inform them that we’re going out!!! That means I have to figure out what can be cleaned and what needs a painting hung over it. In all honesty, my friends are pretty chill and almost all of them have dogs so they get the constant chaos of three puppies in the house, just not this size! It’s been a hot minute since I’ve had real company where I cooked, we did pizza for the Fourth and left to watch fireworks, so that was super easy, this one is going to be more hands on.

Trying to decide if i want to try live-streaming a concert tonight that we were going to attend before life got so complicated this year. I know it won’t be the same, but it would give me good music for frantic cleaning of things.

Couple short walks yesterday, no long one, just couldn’t fit it in. Summer and Shasta did play with one another at the park, so that’s good. Pool needs to have half the water cleaned out and replaced, it’s been awhile and it’s not my favorite thing to do as it takes f-o-r-e-v-e-r and I am not a patient creature.

Pics of the new cast of canine characters for bear and others. I pick up that stuffing every day and throw it away. It’s from their toys which don’t really stand a chance against the strength of two German Shepherds, much less three. It’s a toy, it’s a rope, it’s a mess!!! Roomba doesn’t care for the larger bits, so i have to go around with the broom and dustpan. It’s all good, this phase lasts about three years and then it’s much calmer. Lili and Summer, Summer and Chance, Chance and Lili trying to look like they don’t know exactly what happened after I had just cleaned up the previous explosion of stuffed animal guts. I wish there was an easy way to recycle this stuff, but it can’t go to humans. And yes, they have absolutely ruined my cushions on the couch. Gonna have to cover that up somehow.

Numbers are pretty good, sodium seems to have left the building and blob is still going down, albeit slowly. Did some knee stuff while i was brushing my teeth this morning. The cold always makes things hurt more in the morning. Gotta keep moving though. Makes me think of “I’m an adult now” song, especially the part about sitting in a room full of people whose bodies hurt. Now i gotta google it because it fits the mood. If you know it, you know it. No hate, I’m getting sucked into the vortex with every passing day.

Sometimes my head hurts and sometimes my stomach hurts
And I guess it won't be long
'Fore I'm sitting in a room with a bunch
Of people whose necks and backs are aching
Whose sight and hearing's fading
Who just can't seem to get it up

Speaking of hearing, I can't take too much loud music
I mean I like to play it, but I sure don't like the racket
Noise, but I can't hear anything
Just guitars screaming, screaming, screaming
Some guy screaming in a leather jacket
Woah!

I'm an adult now (sing the entire chorus!) BTW, I refuse!

Reading this made me alternately tear up, then laugh. Getting older comes with a whole collection of aches & pains...even when you do everything you can to be healthy. I feel your pain (of a different kind) getting ready for company. It's our year to host our family Christmas gathering. We do potluck & have transitioned from a full sit down meal to appetizers. Lots to do before the day & it's just over a month away. Even our 2 little dogs create mess living in the country as we do....always dragging in debris. It's life....gotta love it.

Nice loss! If it were me, I would go out for the meal or have it catered. I think the first year after my mom died, we had Thanksgiving at my dad's house and he ordered it from somewhere and it was pretty good. A potluck sounds good too.Bobby rips the stuffing and squeakers out of toys and I keep the outsides and out in a box. My cat Fritzy loves to pull them out of the box in the middle of the night and leave them all over the house.

Hahaha! Worse than children. Except they don't climb up to the top of the roof & too high in trees.

When cooking for a bunch, my rule was 1 protein (meat or seafood), 1 cooked veggie, 1 salad/raw veggie, one starch (always rice in my family), sometimes some type of bread & 1 make-ahead dessert. It made my life easy & cut back on leftovers. And they kept coming back, year after year, so it must have been okay.

If you do decide to cook, you may find Ina Garten's make it ahead advice very calming and helpful. She has great advice for Thanksgiving Turkey and gravy as well as a killer roasted pork shoulder recipe. A 9lb pork shoulder will feed a lot of people.

We usually go to Joe's sisters house in Vegas for Thanksgiving. We all bring something. My job is the baked ham. I make a good Brandy, balsamic, cherry glazed ham. Are you cooking all the dishes? That would be a lot! Hope it goes well. I'm sure it will🧡 The puppies are looking good and mischievous..💜💜

I understand completely! For the first time, I’m making the thanksgiving meal. Granted, it’s me, my fiance, my roommate, and possibly my brother but I’ve never made a thanksgiving meal before and I’m terrified

Dang, you really made a mess!!! I wasn’t going to tell anybody, but I’m taking Wednesday through Friday off to straighten things out and clean for Thanksgiving. Putting down new throw carpets, cleaning walls, and a lot of crap that needs dusting. I have not put my ass in gear during the weekend!!! I guess I’m not a grown-up!!! It’s like being in college and cramming for finals the last few days!!!😕 You absolutely are on track girl - congratulations!! We can do this!!!👍🤗🤗🤗

Love those doggos! We have a german shepherd too. They're worth the chaos they cause, lol. Dont sweat Thanksgiving. Just enjoy your guests and fur babies, the food will be great :)
