Katsolo's Journal, 23 September 2023

Skipped the walk last night and rowed instead. guessing that, along with the soy sauce is why this isn’t a little lower, but no biggie, there’s always tomorrow. We finally have our sunshine this morning and I’m going to make the best of it along with those things i have to do on the weekend. It is a little chilly and I’m guessing I’m going to need to adjust the temp of the pool since i think i put it on penny saver or something like that and I’m not into a polar bear plunge. Or maybe i am? Maybe I’ll try it once and we’ll see where that takes us. I don’t want cold water to be a deterrent from using it as that would negate the whole point of having a pool.

Another bear of a week at work over, time to release some stress. I’m not alone there. I could write more, but there’s really no point. Life is a series of choices, this is mine at the moment. I do have an end goal, it is more in sight than it was five years ago, that helps me to weather the current storm. Going to take the dogs into the canyon for a bit this morning before it warms up.

Air show is this weekend, will be watching the skies for sure. I have some really cool Halloween things I’ve been watching and I’m trying to motivate myself to do some cool stuff this year.

Feel like I’ve failed a bit this week on getting meaningful movement in, so will focus on that for the next week. Eating has been good, but i probably need to pull back on the tuna for a couple of days in the interest of safety (heavy metals). That said, it was a delicious week and I’ll be eating the other half of that sushi sometime today. Maybe we’ll do salmon next week after a little break.

Thursday’s sunset. Love this time of year. Love this street on my walk that i had to force myself to reclaim as part of the routine. Overall, life is good. It’s just a matter of riding over the bumps that get handed to us from time to time.

How many steps do you average a day? You are so active.

Hey don’t answer DP’s question. 😆I’m slowly trying to get more steps in, but yesterday I had an astounding 400. 😞 Spent the whole day waiting for my husband to get out of a medical procedure. 😖 I guess I do want to know how many steps also. Scary, I know it floor me, literally.😁

On normal days, 12,000. On stuck-inside days, more like 4,000. And sometimes it’s a trade off between walking and something else. We’re back up to almost 4 miles with the pups each night though. I was missing that.

Shrewd, I try and pace when I’m stuck waiting.

I decided I need to lift and get 6000 or more a day. My job isn't a lot of walking so if I lift and then walk the dogs a couple times- that's about all I can get in a day. My best days hit 10-11 thousand but that's only once or twice a week. When people get 20 thousand or more steps- I am astounded. I don't know how that can happen without walking for hours and I don't know how people have the time unless it is a walking occupation.

And walking and/or exercising excessively is not sustainable for the majority of people. Gotta have a real life sometimes

DP, time is always the biggest issue for me. I tend to overwork, put myself last and the dogs are the driving force to get the miles in. I talk about eating late a lot, it’s because that’s when I get home from walking the dogs. That said, it’s the best thing I can do for me besides swimming to empty my head after a stressful day. And while I’ll stop and talk to people, I need the solitude for it to work. I like rowing, but it’s not the same. I have to be engaged mentally and I don’t always want that. You love lifting, make it happen.

I'm retired and at home most days. Usually I get 6000-7000 steps just doing stuff in the house and yard. But packing boxes for moving and sorting things out keeps me moving even more. I've been getting over 13,000 steps a day for the last 2 weeks and I got as high as 18,000 steps the other day. I'm in the challenge for 30 miles a week so I am trying hard.

That’s awesome, Fritzy. Those steps are one of the sneaky habits that good for you!

Kat, I downloaded FS on my iPad and still am unable to see any messages. I'm so sorry. Beautiful sunset!!

It’s because you still need to use a full web browser rather than an app (even on ipad). It’s no big deal.

I don't have the app. I always log into fatsecret.com. Maybe that's why I can never post pictures

I post from a browser all the time. I have to scroll to the bottom, select the image, select the size from my photo album (I use Mac) and then fit it into the FS square.

Soy sauce is one of the top saltiest foods. Do you probably have retained water👍
