drinkwaterx4's Journal, 23 March 2015

One year later and I no longer calorie count. It's not realistic for me. All the weight I lost I slowly gained back. My trail racing and trail running is going well. I'm averaging 15 to 20 miles a week with 5 hours of cross training. I've started a new what I call energy regime. I am fasting on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and eating as much as I want the other days. On fasting days I'm drinking lots of water. What's interesting is on the food days I'm not binging. My body is not craving food like I thought it would. I'm still hoping to get my weight stabilized around 180 to 185. This Saturday I have a trail marathon at Pilot mtn in NC. I will break my fast on Friday and have a good dinner.
194.0 lb Lost so far: 6.0 lb.    Still to go: 14.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

OMG! It is so cool to see a post from you again - you were my first motivator on this site! It's great to see that you are still trail racing/running! Good for you! I went as low as 191 and gained back some at the end of the year (2014). Now I have refocused my attention on myself again ... I am doing Intermittent Fasting (16/8) - I guess I am in week 2 now. Interesting discoveries about real hunger as a result of IF! Stay well!

Do you fast and eat once a day on the Mon, Wed, Fri or just not eating anything those days? Wow...I do Intermittent fasting two or three days a week.

Sorry so late...months! getting back to you. I am keeping well. Ran a few 50k ultras. My PR is 5 hrs 45min. The first attempt at 4:3 diet didn't stick. The last 2 ultras I ran had serious cramping around mile 18. This motivated me to get back on track to my goal of 180lbs. I am now comfortable fasting 3 days a week. I drink Orange juice and water only on fast days. At the rate I'm going I will hopefully reach my target in December. It's interesting dealing with the hunger pangs - I just think of the cramping pain and desire to run ultras into my 70's. Glad to see you are working hard at it. After 2 years I now understand how hard it is mentally to stay lean, especially as I get older!
