LadyinDenim's Journal, 17 July 2023

Will break fast today. Have fasted 7 days, 11 hours. Net loss is 9.2 lb. Because I still eat bread and sugar, I carry a lot of fluid. I record daily weights on my fasting app and only record changes to my fasted weight here. Total weight lost this fast is 16.2 lb.

I'm feeling good, but tired of fasting. Am ready to eat.

I added twice the water I should have to my bone broth and it isn't that beautiful gelatin it was the last time. Lesson learned.
285.4 lb Lost so far: 34.4 lb.    Still to go: 160.4 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

The week prior to this fast I ate white bread and logged two desserts.

Do you ( or any other fasters) think your body gets onto a 'catch up ' mode after an extended fast? where you are extra hungry for a few day?

TJ, research shows that people do eat 20% more than normal on their refeed day. If you have the desktop loaded on your pc, you can look at the kcal I eat when I break fast. I think my first refeed was 1300+ calories for one meal. Today will be over 2300 kcal. Am eating a calorie dense alfredo later on today. You know, I haven't been hungry, but now I am. I was just about to heat my broth to break fast and am salivating. Mama wants to eat!

Excellent job LadyD! you are kicking fat's a$$! I just fixed a quick breakfast after my errand run, that with my BPCoffee put me at 940 cal for the day, gonna skip lunch due to late BF but it's all good, enjoy your refeed day!!!!

TJ, I have noticed more hunger, but in choosing more nutrient dense foods to refeed on I still stayed below my RDI while refeeding yesterday. Those chicken livers really filled me up. Of course my stomach shrank also during the fast, so it takes less to fill it. I am trying not to eat to the point of discomfort, no matter what my fat eyes say about my portions.

Have either of you done the mosely diet?
17 Jul 23 by member: tjvoigts
TJ, I have not tried it (5-2 diet). It's easier for me to eat nothing than to restrict my calories.

I know that might sounds counterintuitive, but I think you are correct. Easier to eat nothing than a 600 calorie meal!

TJ, yes, because I'm still hungry and if there was carbs and protein in it, my insulin went up and now I have two hormones working against me (gherlin and insulin). Just skip those two days eating and once you get past day two, you can go for three. It's hard at first. Not gonna lie. Now, though, it's so easy I don't even have to complain to FS about my cravings.

Fantabulous, LadyD! You knocked it out of the Park!

@Tjvoigts - Yes, your hunger hormones just settle down to little sleepy voices that can easily be sent back to bed, if you just hush them. (during a longer fast).

BTW LadyD, I like your new photo.

And I can put on my shoes without straining my back, and tie them! 35 lb is a nice start. Go me! 🥳🥳

LOL LadyD!! I'm so glad I'm not the only one who had trouble reaching those feet!!!! Who knew simply putting on shoes would be such a struggle!!!
