I'm so angry!

I've been following my diet 100%! No wheat at all. Only 3 "high carb" replacements in the last 5 weeks. I'm eating meat and veggies with a little fruit and a little sugary treat here and there. PRE-PORTIONED so I don't go crazy with it. I'm drinking more water and significantly less soda. Less than 1 soda per day!

To be right back where I always am when eating all the crap is inconceivable. I don't understand what is going on with my body! I don't have "cheat days" so I'm keeping calorie low and working out. I haven't lost pounds or inches! ***cry*** WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME!?
211.6 lb Lost so far: 20.8 lb.    Still to go: 76.6 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
gaining 14.0 lb a week

I know Exactly what you mean. I am beginning to think it takes my body weeks to react to what I do. If I exercise, I lose weight two weeks later. If I cheat, and think I gained weight, I don't always. Think what's important is to Keep A Positive Attitude. You can and Will Achieve your goal. I always hear people say...Think It is So and it Will Be. I think they're right. Stick with it !! You'll do it

Easy on yourself....one common thing I have researched is a thing called weight plateau. Some people stop losing weight after a bit with the diet they are doing. I had read many articles that stated that what happens is the body adjust to what your doing and therefore able to maintain itself with what your providing it. They suggest that the best way to avoid such a plateau is to switch up your diet from week to week, For example one week take less carbs and high protein. The next higher carbs and less protein. I have been doing this for 2 weeks now. Last week I had higher carbs, atleast 100-200g. This week I have lowered carbs to 50-100g. I see results, not sure how much as I weighed myself a week ago and loss 8lbs my first week. This is just a suggestion and support. I'm not a doctor and I don't know your body chemistry. However, I know that feeling of hopelessness and when you start reaching that point failure isn't to far away. You won't fail and you can't fail! Continue repeating this to yourself...I WILL SUCCEED!

Personally, my weight fluctuates drastically depending on what phase of the menstrual cycle I'm in. Don't give up! I have also had weeks where my weight would flatline, or even move up a few just to have a really good loss the week after. How often do you weigh in? I only weigh once a week at most, so that I can focus my energy on the process and my fitness goals, rather than feeling defeated if the scale doesn't respond how I feel it should. You ARE doing great, chin up.

Sometimes, it just happens that way. I've been stuck on same weight for months now, but I treadmill every day. I also gave up sodas of any kind for over a year now. The last time I sipped a drink, I could taste so many chemicals in it I only wanted water. Hang in there. At least with exercising you won't gain. Keep up the great work! You'll get there!

Check your measurements!! Sometimes you have muscle gain. You have lost fat, but your weight isn't moving. I have found that sometimes I have lost inches in weird places like around my back. I like to keep a list of measurements that aren't normally tracked. If I lost a 1/2 inch off of my back, it helps me to feel better about the dreaded number. Stay on track!! Know that you are being good to yourself and staying healthy.:D

When I feel like I've done everything right and still don't make progress, or worse yet, head in the wrong direction, I've found that sometimes I have to find a way to "outsmart" my body. I do this by eating different foods, or trying a different form of exercise or even changing my style of eating (e.g., instead of 3 meals a day, I'll switch it up to four smaller meals spaced evenly apart) Try mixing it up because I swear sometimes your body "figures out" your new pattern and adjusts to it. Good luck, don't get frustrated, know that it happens to ALL of us at one time or another : )

tThis is good information - keep looking for areas to adjust... it took me a while to find what would work for me and then periodic adjustments when weight loss slowed down. Yes we can plateau and we need to keep at it but we can also deceive ourselves that a particular plan will work eventually when perhaps it's not the right plan for us. Maybe you need to take another look at your carb, fat and protein ratios if your current diet isn't having the desired effect.

First, we've all overeaten to a point we were/are overweight and our body is messed up. Leptin is a hormone that is supposed to help regulate how much body fat you store and when you overeat and consume high-glacemic foods (even now look at that huge sugar spike in your coffee each morning), the surge of insulin shuts down leptin and your body just packs on fat. It can take months of eating right (and staying within a proper RDI) to fix/improve your insulin sensitivity and your leptin will start working again. First, up your protein to 1 gram per lean body mass, increase your good fats (avacado, coconut oils, seeds, nuts) and eliminate processed or sugary foods (you can introduce them back later on). Try cinnamon and raw coconut oil in your coffee or some vanilla coconut milk and don't eat artifical sweetners (they also spike insulin). You know you've achieved good insulin sensitivity when you eat a piece of cake and want to puke because the sugar makes you ill :) If you are up to it, fasting 2 days a week improves insulin sensitivity quickly and increases an enzyme that burns fat. Check out some of the forum posts on the 5:2 diet. Or you can google insulin sensitivity here or on the net for tips on how to improve yours. There are recommended supplements too. Good luck!
