This is working pretty well. I've felt in control of my eating habits most of the time instead of rarely feeling like I'm in control.
I'd like to think it's working for a couple of reasons. First, counting calories is kind of fun. I like little detailed projects like this where I get to keep track of things. Second, this website keeps me focused on my goals. The rest of the world is not focused on helping me eat better. Each food or exercise entry into my diary is a reminder.
